Thank you so much! I drive a 2000 Accord coupe with 5-speed and have had issues with the car stalling and not starting. I'd narrowed it down to the fuel pump not always engaging, but just replaced the pump and filter 6 months ago! The fuel pump wouldn't engage even after waiting for five to ten minutes, until I "jiggled" the clutch a bit. After watching this video, I looked for the fuel relay, and found it dangling on top of my clutch. Every time I "jiggled" the clutch, it was "tapping" the relay to make the connection. After taking out the old relay, I heard audible "clunking" when I shook it lightly. Definitely bad solder; nothing should be moving on the inside of the relay!

This video helped alot, i almost unplugged the wrong thing since theres a plug in there that looks like the main relay for a mustang. Pulling out was difficult however, had to lat on the seat feet on the headrest and pull it from the bracket (which it got real friendly with) and then peel it slowly up like a lego with my nail since the screwdriver didnt work and finally to find out i didnt have an oem relay. I watched this about a year and decided to buy one and leave in my trunk. Last night after work I try to drive the 32 miles home but the 2000 Accord wont start. I first tapped the fuel pump if it was seized up but no help. I then decided to pull the main relay out and after an awful time of getting my over 230 6 foot tall self upside down and in there. I finally got it apart and replaced. BOOM STARTED THANK YOU SO MUCH SIR!!

I was having on and off problems with my idle and power from a standing start. Then on occasion my 02 Accord SE would die at Stops. Thought it was a Fuel pump but after viewing posts like this one I decided to replace the Relay! This video explained it perfectly. I made the change with a new Fuel Pump Relay and it solved the problem! Thank you Sir!

Thank you! The stock relay didn't remove as easily as yours. I had to bend the metal it hung on by a little because it wouldn't have any clearance.

Got an 02 TL Type S that out the blue doesn’t start anymore. Gonna try this tomorrow before I part it out. They say sometimes the solder in the back of the relay burns out. I’ll keep you updated. Thanks for the video bro 💪🏾

just replaced mine. Got an OE new for $70 on eBay. I think the classic symptom is "crank, no start" in hot ambient conditions. (with No CEL on bulb check)

if you open up the relay you can check for cracked solder joints and reflow the solder and replace with new, may be a cheaper fix instead of replacement, depending the the electrical failure of the piece.

Love your Honda videos! Very helpful! You rock! Pretty sure this is what's happening with my 2001 accord LX. Doesn't start when the interior gets too hot. When that happens I wait around 5 mins and let the window down and then I try again and the fuel pump and CEL will turn on.

Thank you for posting this. Being a chick and trying to work on my own car has been challenging as all my guy friends don't think I know what to do....poor little me. LOL Seriously, thanks. I did go to a pull apart junkyard and got a couple relays off of some hondas that seemed to be in much better shape than mine. Hopefully this will do the trick. I have a 99 accord coupe that I stupidly ran a little low on my gas. As a general rule, a car that old I would never let it go below a quarter tank of gas...i mean never. Well I did run it slightly lower trying to get to the gas station. It started bogging down as I accelerated not even a mile from the gas station. Since then I have had issues keeping it running while driving. It usually (not every single time) cranks just fine and only sometimes boggs down as I'm accelerating. AAA just towed it to the house a few hours ago so I can finally go try out this relay situation. I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key, but do not hear clicking in the relay. That's what led me to your video which is by far the best one i've seen yet. I'm heading outside to try out one of the other relays I got before I start pulling off parts HAHA. I'll post back shortly and give you an update on whether or not I was successful. Fingers crossed. ***On a different note, my Accord has some really old tint on it that I would love to remove. I can't even see out the back window at night. Do you have any advice on removing old tint? I know there will be old nasty adhesive still on the window...if you happen to have any tips on removing that, it would be great! Hey, great job on the video. Thanks again!

Our 1998 Accord (with 120K miles) stalls sometimes. I have replaced ignition switch and distributer. Usually runs great. Could the relay be intermittent? It seems like a fuel problem. After a few minutes it will start and run fine. Thanks for your advice.

Hi I'm getting shut downs while driving and no starts. The no starts have no green immobilzer icon(no blinking key-which is weird ) . When it starts it does have the green icon on the Dash. I'm Was thinking immobilizer - but now maybe it's this relay you've mentioned instead . Can you help?

Hey, i notice that the1st time i got up one morning and the car would'nt start, i cleaned the battery terminals and changed them too, but nothing haapened. I then got some gas because i was wondering if my relay or the pump was reading incorrectly and i was right. Even though my tank had quater of gas based on the reading of my dashboard. The tank was empty. When i got gas, it started. The second time it happened, i was driving and the car felt as if it wanted to shout off and dye but after kept pressing gas the car drove until it totally died. Not sure, but i wondering if this is the solution to the problem?

how do I get the bottom panel of the dash off so it is easy to get to the relay? I am a very large man. Just that bottom panel. I also will need to get the driver seat back so I can have more room. Friday evening I almost had a wreck in my 2000 accord , so I slammed on my brakes so hard that I noticed after I got out that my lights were on , on the back of car , Do you think that I could have broke the brake light switch ? Alternator is good battery is brand new and it will not start I have a 05 Honda Accord so someone said it can be a main relay issue. How do I know it's the main relay, and not the fuel pump relay, or anything else?! At first when it was jumped it'll hold a charge for a few minutes. Than after jumping it it didn't hold long and started cutting off while I was driving. I had to jump it to park it! When I stick my key in the lights flash and goes away when I turn it all the way. I don't hear the clicking anymore Helllpppp I need my car! I'm trying to get someone to come and take a look I would like to know the issue beforehand if possible because people here like to charge a arm and a leg to diagnose a problem that isn't getting me anywhere!

What if both are working

My 1999 accord will crank but not start. It also will not allow me to shift out of park. Put screw driver in release and shifted into neutral. Will not start in neutral. Break lights are working. Come back 20 minutes later, it is ok.
