I really appreciate this. As someone who's never really experienced Judge Dredd, I find in very refreshing that you guys put together a video like this. A bigger, more "sell sell sell!" minded company would just say "Start from the beginning and buy it all! Muwahahaha!". Or, more likely, they'd just remain silent, and leave a prospective reader to puzzle it out themselves, or try to find a consensus on the internet. So kudos to you guys, I plan on picking some of these up in the near future.
The 1995 Stalone Film was on of my Favorite films, but its only recently last 3 months that i got into Judge Dredd Comics and there brilliant, i started on Prog 2 with the case files no 1 ,and im now buying the Medgazine and 2000ad weekly and im hooked . i wont bother with other older 2000ad stuff but Old 1970s/80s Dredd is Awsome, thank god for the Case Files Volumes
@@kohnnfloriann8501 I find the Stallone Dredd to not be as bad as people want it to be. Yes, he breaks the major rule of taking off his helmet but man that movie gets a lot of life in Mega City 1 right. Early Dredd had a lot of silliness to it that they weren't afraid to use.
I could listen to Robo-K33f and Molch-R all day. Great to see editorial droids with such knowledge and enthusiasm. More of these videos, please. They're drokkin' ghafflebette!
Dredd is amazing. The highlights you guys went over here were some of my personal favourites. America was very impacting. Apocalypse war is extremely entertaining. Also, I don't remember what it was called, but the Judge Death backstory was super dark and cool.
I used to read my Uncles 2000ad comics, in the late 70's and early 80's, and i wish i kept all the single issues, as they are worth a lot now. Its time to get back into Judge Dredd and 2000AD.
awesome thanks for the info on books, I have read American and The Dark Judge series lots of times and still doesn't get repetitive. Huge Judge Dredd Fan.
This video is just what I was looking for. I'm 38 and have been feeling the pull of Dredd, and 2000AD. I dabbled in it a little as a kid, but know next to nothing about the stories. The case files have intrigued me, but I wasn't sure whether they covered everything from the beginning.

Well I've got the first two case files in printe and started kindling the shit out of Dredd, Nemesis the Warlock, Nikolai Dante and Ro-Busters and eyeying more. Only just bought the fifth Casefile a little while ago. I was surprised that after the big Judge Cal storyline that comics became shorter again. Well there is the Judge Child story but that was certainly more like the Cursed Earth epic than the Cal one...minus any characters really sticking out, aside from Mean Machine and the Judge Child of course. Loved the Dredd movie and a shame it did not do better. Aaah so glad several 2000 AD comics are going on Kindle.
Great, informative video. Does this sound like a decent entry into the series? Any glaring mistakes? Origins The Cursed Earth: Uncensored The Apocalypse War (Complete Case Files #5) America Necropolis (The Complete Case Files #14) Day of Chaos
The Apocalypse War included the lengthy Block War 'prologue' right? That was still a enjoyable read. I love it starts off as 'ugh just an awful case of Block War' then escalates and then becomes more sinister very quickly.
Have you guys got a podcast? If not you should do one, i listen to podcasts at work all day and would love a decent judge dredd one. Im sure you would have alot of listeners
I know this is quiet late but what do you guys think of Inferno? I bought it because it was recommended but the reviews aren't as good as the other books.
About to get into judge dredd. Now, according to Amazon, case files 5 has the RETURN of judge death. Do I not need to pick up the case files book with his origins? Also, Amazon has the pit for $103, so that sadly won't be one I'm picking up.
+HungarianManbeast Agreed... I just had a simply Dreddful Christmas. Case Files 1 and 3--2 was out of stock so my wife just skipped it for the moment--, America, Urban Warfare and the book with the script and concept art. I went from a mostly nonexistent collection to something a bit more substantial. Before all I had was the RPG from Games Workshop.
I used to review 2000ad progs for ComicCrusaders.com and i just ordered some Hardcover Edition Judge Dredd books (Complete Carlos Esqarza). Would love to start reviewing them for you. Hopefully I can get a couple of Hardcovers or TPBs sent to me.
Is there a list of trades for Judge Dredd, other than the Case Files, available anywhere? Just a list so that I know what to buy other than the Case Files.
I have one question: I'm plannin' to buy all the 24 volumes of the case files series, but I have a doubt: do they have everythin' about Dredd or I have to buy also the little books with the graphic novels? Thank ya!
I keep seeing the "Gaze into the fist of dredd "- panel, colorized... but cant find it anywhere is there a colorized version out there of the case files 5, or is just some fan art of sorts? a fan who decided to color the panel?.
It's been awhile just finished volume 11 and now onto color in 12 and on. I have all 33 volumes plus I'm receiving complete mega collection of America in the mail. Any other dredd stories you recommend? Thank you!
I met Mike Molcher at a comic book convention last year and he was a really nice guy. I was a bit of a dick to him for some reason. I've always regretted this and don't know why. I am sorry.
ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1yUwX1rR-zc.html What lull are they talking about with 2000AD? Is there some of judge dredd I should skip for just not being as good?
The comic had some difficult times around the mid-1990s where readership fell and some strips weren't up to scratch. But it very much depends on what kind of Dredd you're looking for - there are some real gems during Garth Ennis' run and Wagner's return in the late 1990s produced some corkers.
The size of these comic books is too small. A few years ago, I"ve bought "Judge Dredd - Heavy Metal Dredd " and " Judge Death - Young Death - Boyhood of a Superfiend " , but it so small... The printing and the paper is great, but when I want to go back to these stories and drawings, I go for my old big size " USA Magazines " and my " Judge Dredd - The Megazine. "
You grubby bastards! Judge Dredd The Pit is out of print! I mean, WAY out of print. I tracked down a used copy from a British library. And YOU two put it on your must read list!
Sorry Earthlet, it went out of print after the video was filmed - but the whole of 'The Pit' story is now contained in Judge Dredd: The Complete Case Files #24 and #25
