My brother was a 2000ad artist & did some artwork for Judge Dredd, most of the work he did was Sinister Dexter & Slaine.. I have all the original artwork as he passed.
Hi Jess, being from the U.K., I’ve been reading dredd since 1990. I have every issue of 2000ad. I love all this stuff 😊 I liked all of your choices. Great video Jess 😊
The Apocalypse War HC in color by IDW isn't that easy to find these days, but it was just rerelased in softcover by 2000AD under their Essential Judge Dredd line (the other two volumes so far, no surprise, are America and Origins).
I really enjoyed your video man, I'm in Hospital presently, after having had a cardiac arrest, great to see an American fan of 2000AD. I started reading the weekly comic as a kid in the mid 70's... and I'm reading The Judge Child Quest in the UK Titan Books edition currently. I'll check out Part 2 now 🙂.
Love dredd. I have all of these except the apocalypses war HC (have the case files) and I have the orgins essential edition on pre-order. I have all most all the cases files. I have only read the first 2 so far and it's a lot of fun. It can be silly sometime and serious at others. There is a huge variety in the type of stories told in the Dredd universe. Thanks great vid Jess.
Thank you Jess! Very good overview and how to start reading Dredd. I am collecting the Mega Collection of JD. I read Amerika and now I will follow your guide. Looking for part 2,3,4,5 😉 of you videos
I enjoyed this helpful guide to Dredd, great choices, the only one I've not read yet is the Dark Justice book. Lovely hardcover editions youve got, never seen that version of Apocalypse War, beaufully coloured. Have you read Young Death: Boyhood of a Superfiend? its so funny and so wrong. Did you post part two and three? I cant find those videos.
I'm glad you found it helpful! I haven't made parts 2 and 3 yet. My life has gotten in the way of my making videos lol! I will get to it soon! And I really want to read Boyhood of a Superfiend hahaha!! It sounds perfect
Have you read the Judge Death: The Life and Death of... or Hondo City Law yet? Those are the other two that I still haven’t got around to that I’m still the most curious about. Additionally, I can vouch that Mega City Two: City of Courts is also well worth your time.
I haven't read them but I'm familiar with them! I think they look like a fun bunch of books if you're not trying to follow any timeline. I have another video coming up that's part 2 of this readathon on what to read next
Basically the censored version wasn’t allowed to reprint the copyright chapters it wasn’t until parody law in the uk changed, that the uncensored version was printed.
Has anyone told you about Adi Shankar's Superfiend, it's a few years old so it may be forgotten at this point? It's a animation of Judge Death inspired by MTV LIquid TV, definitely worth checking out. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-usKo1IaTHjA.html
The Cursed Earth is in Case Files 2 but its the censored version (four missing chapters). America isn't included in any of the Case Files, nor are any of the Dredd/Batman Crossovers. Origins hasn't appeared in a Case Files yet, but it will do.
