My first car was a 2000 Deville in Parisian blue. I want one again!

Unfortunately, no amount of preventative maintenance will prevent the head gaskets from blowing. The issue was that the steal head bolts were too narrow and the threads too shallow that it would pull the threads from the aluminum head right out. GM did try to fix the issue in 2000 by using longer head bolts, but this will only delay the failure. In 2005 they redesigned the head bolts which solved the issue. if you have a pre-2005, even if it was serviced by GM installing threaded inserts, the threads will fail eventually. The only way to solve this issue is by installing new head studs.

I just bought an Aqua colored 2000 Sedan Deville with only 62000. original Miles looks like this color with chrome Aluminum Wheels . Thing floats like a Smoothe Butterfly & sounds like a hot rod when gettin on it. Gotta love these Caddys & Lincolns !!!

Beautiful color and combination. You don't see many in this shade of this year(usually they're white, black, or silver). Yup, as Anthony mentioned, this car introduced a ton of new tech for the auto industry like the full LED taillamps(MB S-Class only had LED brake lights, not turn signals) and the Night Vision system.

I have an 00 DTS identical color. All black leather interior. 39,000mi. Nightvision and navigation. Gotta love that "parisian blue"!

The engine is a time bomb on these.

Love these cadi’s!! I bought a 2000 deville with 63k miles for 2100 bucks! Needed some work but man was so clean inside and out. Some of these aren’t even overheating because of the head gaskets some you have to clear out the purge line some times. And you’re set. Need me another one of these

Just sold mine... It was a 2002 Sedan deVille... Burgundy w/Shale Leather Interior. 12,000 miles (garaged). It was a very comfortable automobile! The mileage was unbelievable, I hit 29m/per gal. The Norstar Engine was Awesome! Wish Cadillac still had a car that rides as comfortable as this deVille... Why do we have to feel every crack and crevice in the road when I go to buy a loaf of bread and quart of milk??

I had a 2000 model in pearl white, one of my most favorite cars. Super comfortable, rides like a sports car with the powerful Northstar engine. My previous car was a Lincoln Town Car, so yeah this car was sporty compared to that. I would love to find a very low miles 2005 Deville. I would buy it in a heartbeat

I caught my coolant just starting to rust when I bought mine! They said I just caught it in time!! That was 3 months ago. 2004 Deville Owner, and Proud!!!!

Does the records show if they had the steel screws replaced with aluminum screws on the motor? That was a problem with cadillac because the steel screws would degrade the aluminum body of the motor and make it start to leak.

No in dash CD player? That’s very rare. I thought all base models had that in dash. After 2004, they removed the in dash cassette too.

I have read that originally the North Star engine was for a race car and not designed for an engine for a passenger car.. There's something about the design of that engine that it needs close attention paid to the maintenance.. It also needs oil changes at 3000 miles.. My uncle had a new 2003 DTS that had everything on it ,it list for 58k.. He had a lot of issues with it.. Once the transmission started shuddering at times and it needed four sensors at a cost of $1,200.. at 68k the intake gasket went out at a cost of $1,400.. He decided after that it was becoming problematic.. it was in beautiful condition with the moon roof and everything you could order on it including rain sensoring wipers and a six CD changer that was located in the glove box.. He sold it on cars.com in 2014 for $5,000. It had 68k on the odometer.

I owned and loved the DTS caddy deville. Problem once the service engine light goes on your screwed and if you live in a state like N.J. You will never pass inspection. Will make a nice anchor otherwise.

Never knew Caddy was the 1st with rear LED lights. Learnt something knew another 1st for Caddy.

I love these and I really love the bubbly ones from 97-99 but Cadillac really messed up big time on those north stars at the time. They were literally built to break after 100k because Cadillac didn’t use the right part causing the engine to break and cost $2,000 to $4,000. I would personally avoid anything before 06. Unless you got a lot of money and want a toy of course then go ahead! And after the early 90s I still see people driving broughams from the 80s so they must had done a job making them in Texas back in the good ol days.

Love most all the cars Anthony has on here (Broughams, Town Cars). Sadly, these Devilles have the "Deathstar" Engines which notoriously blow their head gaskets at 50k - 100k miles. Then the owner finds out it cost more to fix the gasket then the car is worth and they junk it. That is why just like Anthony said "you hardly see these on the road anymore. You used to see them a lot." That said, the car looks really nice in that shade of blue and hopefully lasts a long time for the new owner.

North Star engine , 4100 engine, 4-6-8 engine.... is Cadillac’s reason why the car company has tanked in the 80’s, 90’s, and 2000’s. Even though the car is extremely gorgeous, but those engines put a hurt on the GM brand for decades. Hopefully Cadillac would get back into the luxury car business like they used to. Because modern luxury cars ain’t shit compared to yesterday’s luxury cars.

Yeah I have to say that color is rare. I remember when these cars were new and I have only seen a few in this color. Only thing that would make it better is if it was the more luxurious DHS model.

Some DTS had Night Vision as an option

The lack of simple maintenance on this car was NOT what gave Northstar equipped Cadillacs a bad name. It was the poor design. I had 2 Northstar DeVilles and BOTH of them had blown head gaskets before 48,000 and 51,000 miles. Both were well maintained if not overtly well maintained. Also I’ve owned Cadillac’s since the early 90’s and I’ve never seen or heard of any promotional literature that gave Cadillac owners or potential buyers the impression that the car didn’t need any simple maintenance until 100,000 miles. I’m not saying it doesn’t exist I’m just saying after almost 30 years of ownership I’ve never heard anything about that.

the only downfall of this car is it has the northstar engine which are prone to blowing head gaskets sadly. if it wasnt a northstar it may sell a little better i think
