This video helped save me $650 from the dealership. Thanks!!!!!! $350 for a new cluster and $300 in labor. All I had to do was solder the board!!! Works great now.
Thank You for the great video and information. I have seen a number of your videos and liked them all. For the first time I see what you look like, LOL
Outstanding video. Very well done. The procedure for my 1999 Ford F150 was identical. Repaired the cold solder joint on the digital odometer in a matter of minutes and saved a bundled. Thank you!!!
+Ron Fowler There are 4 of the 194 and 2 of 78 bulbs marked with ILM for illumination in my 1998. I replaced all even though the 2 78's were still working. Also on the 1998 the light switch is different. You remove its face plate then inside is a slide bar that you move to the right to release and pull out the main section of the light switch.
My 1997 Ford F-150 has been slowly losing the cluster lights. The last one gave up. i have tried to find a good video showing how to replace the bulbs. YOu are the only one who has also showed how to remove the trim/shroud. Thank you.
I used this to work on my 1997, it's nearly identical, except, do not pry the light switch cluster out like in this video. On my 97 you have to pry the dash panel out a bit on the left side of the switch and then reach in behind the light switch and push a release lever that then lets the light switch come out. If you try and pry the way this video shows, at least on my 97 you will break the switch cover...
How do you fix the cluster if a gage is broken?? My battery gage looks like it's broken I installed a brand new Optima battery and the battery indicator comes on all the time. The battery gage needle is positioned on the opposite side if where it needs to be I don't know why. How can I fix this problem?? Thanks in advance. Great vid
I bought a 2004 f150 Lariat with a Box C title. The odometer is showing 106K miles. My friend who is pretty handy with cars said it is hard to falsify the odometer because it is in the computer. He said he had a expedition about the same year as my f150 and had to get the actual cluster rebuilt because his expedition wouldn't start with the junkyard cluster because the cpu didn't recognize the cluster. Is he right? If he isn't right, Is it hard to mess with the true odometer mileage?
I am looking for auxiliary relay boxes 3&4, that are supposed to be located behind the gage cluster, but I did not see them in your video. Does anyone know where those two boxes are located?
anyone know which fuse the 3rd brake cab light is on?? I was trying to replace with leds and I think I blew a fuse because now the one 3rd brake that was working won't light and now the cabin light is out.. 😢 on the bright side.. one one the relays wasn't plugged in so I just guessed which one it went to and now my power windows are working like a charm.. 😀🙌.. Also if anyone could tell me what a good replacement would be for the 3rd brake.. its all broke and water can get in I'm thinking about getting a new one.. Thanks for the tips!
If you have a 97 (possibly 98) F150 the removal of the headlight switch is dramatically different. You will not be able to pop out the switch with a screw driver and will most certainly crack the plastic housing. The knob actually serves as a release lever.
