Sounds pretty good. Glad you showed the front speakers. I'm getting ready to undertake this whole thing with my 99 Jimmy. Pretty nice and cool day today to do that I think. Dry too.
Just did the fuel pump in my 99 Jimmy @ 112k miles....speakers next. Fronts are blown as well, and the rears don't work at all. Not to mention all the buttons are falling of the radio itself...fine quality piece of engineering.
9 years late, but I figured out that for the radio buttons on my '99 Jimmy, using some rubber vacuum caps (can find at any hardware store) the same size as the original buttons, and pop them on instead. Looks *almost* factory and cost maybe 10 cents apiece
Older Chevy and GMC vehicles (mainly Chevy but GMC does it too) are notorious for blowing out their stock speakers, especially the Malibus, Trailblazers, Jimmys Impalas, with sun facing (dash and back seat) speakers as the sun destroys paper speakers and the older Chevy and Gmc trucks and some other vehicles are notorious for having leaky window seals
I may be getting an 00 Jimmy Diamond Edition in March or an 05 Trailblazer and have plans to do an entire Kenwood or Pioneer install including HU with subs
Need your help amigo.I have a 2001 LS Blazer.I had the same problem as you did with the screw grommets breaking off under the driver side handle. What did you do to fix this problem? Both of the screw grommets are broken on mine. Thanks great video.Let me know as I`m about to change out all of my cheap ass factory speakers too. Thanks
I still haven't repaired the door handle. However, I will make another video in the next week or so. I have to remove the door panel to rivet the power window motor in place. There is only one rivet keeping it up now and it make clunking noises when the power window is actuated.
I noticed that the buttons on stereo aren't lighting up anymore (on button #1 and #4). I have the same problem in my car I was wondering if you know how to fix that or if you have a video where you already did?
I have a 4 door 2000 Blazer ( power windows ) and just changed out my 6.5 " front door speakers ....do you know anything about removing the rear door panels ( going to replace those speakers next ) ......are they about the same amount of work as the fronts...harder or easier ...and are there any rear door speaker replacement tips you can offer .........thanks much
@@LarryMorales77 I was wondering if I have to take any special speaker mounting precautions due to the rear doors being slightly smaller and if there could be a problem with the lowering of the window after the speaker install ...thanks
+donTataf new speakers make a huge difference. If you want to keep it stock, buy a 6.5 inch speaker repair kit. New speakers will most likely sound better though ;-)
Thanks for the advice! I just replaced the blend door actuator and got my AC back up in the Jimmy. Love my Jimmy. Those speakers are great price on amazon. I am a car noob, I will undertake this project soon thanks to your video!
I have the exact same truck really good truck but, my gas gauge goes crazy sometimes do u have any idea what it might be?? im guessing its he fuel pump .
+donTataf not very complicated actually. You do have to drop the gas tank to do so since its located in the tank. There is actually a great video by Mark Jenkins on how to do so. Here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3_i1WLoPOPk.html
It's the fuel pump. The floater or pickup is made on the pump itself. The pump for an s10 truck will fit in the blazer but the pickup is different. I ordered a new pump and accidentally got a blazer pump instead of the truck version when I replaced mine and the gauge doesn't work.
Larry - Crutchfield says my '99 Blazer (also six speakers in similar configuration) needs 6-3/4" speakers in the front doors and 5-1/4" speakers in the rear doors. Did you have previous mods done to your Jimmy to accommodate four 6-1/2" speakers? Or did the '99 Blazer and '00 Jimmy models run two different speaker configurations for some reason?
Why do they say, in all these videos that you have to unhook all the wiring from the door panel switch.. Pop off the switches from the armrest, pop off the door panel..The switches slide right through the opening. No need to unplug anything..
Can anyone else me or give me any advice? I have a 2003 gmc jimmy and one day leaving the mall I couldn't start my car and it was no crank, then my shift got stuck in park . When I turn the key the lights come on and that's it and I towed it back to my house, anyone with the same problem or any advice would be very appreciated
+michael lollie Maybe a starter issue. Try tapping it with a hammer or a stick. Here is a video from Scotty Kilmer: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6TX63XO6n8A.html
see if it starts in neutral if so then the safety swith and the security wires on top of ignition switch get loose and stop from firing. kills fuel after 2 seconds for security tampering
@@LarryMorales77 my poor old speakers looked & sounded the same as yours did in my 2000 gmc sonoma when i replaced them, i still dont understand why all the literature on sonomas & S10's say those are 6 1/2" door speakers when in fact if you measure them they are 6" all day long no matter how you slice it! i got some el cheapo's from sonicelectronix.com for around $35 for the doors & dash, they called for 6.5 in the door also but when i got them they were 6" same as originals like wtf no biggy & the 4x6 were both blown also! well im not going to win any sound off competitions lol but i dont have that blown crackling sound anymore that can drive a person nuts!✌
lmao thats how my car sounds only the front passenger side door works and its blown dash speakers dont work either looking for some decent dash speakers though
