I have a 96 blazer , installed a pioneer radio with a Metra kit etc. The problem I ran into is my courtesy lights won't come on. The fuse is good brand new bulbs. Did I mess up the illumination wiring for the stereo ?
I just installed this on my 2001 gmc Jimmy and your video was my awesome guide. I used cruthfields website and they helped confirm what wiring harness, antenna adapter and mount I needed. So I just ordered it from them and it worked great. Thanks for taking the time to do this. I don't know if I would have tried without your video.
I just bought my stereo from crutchfield.com and they told my all the wires and stuff that I need. They also have great service. I would highly recommend them.
Thank you for this. Changed my kid's radio for her this afternoon. Found an extra trim bolt rolling around inside the dash, that someone forgot to re-install. I have no idea where it came from, haha! This video made installing the radio easy! It literally took me longer to solder up the wiring harness adapter to the new head unit than it did to install it thanks to this video!
It's not a problem, and it's not your fault but definitely keep up the excellent work, define you helped me out big time. We need more people like you that don't cut the video off at the most important parts you need to know, and I hope to see more videos soon lol, take care buddy and enjoy the rest of your day 👍👍👍👍
Your truck is easier than my 1995 S10 , mine has the pocket below the radio and the Ac/heater controls are on one side of the radio... Putting a Pioneer in mine two
Thanks for the great instruction! Would you happen to know if these cars can only fit a single DIN radio, or is a double DIN compatible as well? (bigger; bigger usually around 6.2")
Great video, I have a question. Does your original wire harness have 3 dark green wires and 1 lighter green wire? mine has 3 dark green wires and I cut my old one before watching this and now Im trying to put it back to the wire harness and dont know where they should go back into the harness
Hello I'm replacing my factory stereo in my 2003 s10 extended cab truck with a new Sony stereo would I basically do the same thing you have done and do you have any helpful thoughts for wiring or should I just buy a adapter like you did ? Thank you for your time
Do you know what exact size the sterio is? I have the same make and model but I know nothing about sterios. I want to upgrade to a screen with bluetooth and rear camera installed but I do not want a awkward looking insulation kit. It must be flush! Is this possible??
I’ve got an 01 Chevy LS blazer 4x4 and I have the shitty stock stereo deck. Where do I get the mounting plate you used to mount the pioneer stereo? Do some stereos come with them?
I`m a big fan buddy.I`ve got a question for ya..I have an 2001 Ls Blazer. My factory stereo will need to be changed/My fm quit working but am still works. You mentioned crutchfield.Did you get their connection that plugs the radio harness to the factory harness?
Awesome. Thanks so much. Also, did you use the old bracket from the Delco radio or did your Pioneer have one already? My radio doesn't have those two mounting holes on either side of it
Not sure if you are still replying, but I have a 98 Chevy blazer. A few comments under 2 other videos people were saying they lost the speedometer or dash lights after installing. Is this something I should be concerned about? I have a Pioneer AVH pop out screw that I had from 1990 Oldsmobile.
thanks pal. i have an 05 jimmy and will be doing it tomorrow. Question for ya if your still around. my battery keeps draining. think its the radio..no lights on the speed gauges so cant tell how fast im going at night. do you have any tips or anything to help me out with my problem. heat blows on 3 but not 4. cheers
mark you know how many speakers the factory stereo with the slave cassette has in it .I own a 1998 chevy blazer LT with delco cd and slave cassette player .I thought it was 8
I was replacement they car sterero but the speakers not working , any recomendation to check ? , The speakers sounds whith direct cable but in arnes not, sorry my English is bad.
Hey mark i currently have a '95 Jimmy is the bezel removal similar to your '00? Who ever had the truck before me had subwoofers wired up and everything seems to be wired correctly because the amp turns on but the speakers(subwoofers) do not pound i'm thinking maybe the AV cables got lose from behind the stereo because i double checked everything i could visually inspect control wire, speaker wire, power and ground
Good stuff man .BUT!! My blazer has tape player down in the centre console!!!! Do u know where to find a pocket to replace it or something like that. Im sure im not the only one with this problem.my luck i am.lol
I have a 2001 gmc jimmy 4 door with a Bose system and I was wondering did yours come with the adapters to change it from a stock stereo to an aftermarket? If it didn't could you tell me what I need to get?
I know this is an old video but mu daughter's boyfriend just bought a 2001 Blazer. He tried to install an aftermarket deck (without a kit) and ended up with most of his gauge cluster not working. Any idea how to fix that?
Is there a specific Harness or Hidden Amp somewhere.. Rear speakers don't work.. One speaker in rear worked when I bought.. Replaced stereo and 4 speakers.. 2001 gmc jimmy , looks exactly the same setup.. An was wondering was that an issue with u as well..
Did you ever find out what was causing air to blow on your feet? I gotta 99 xtreme and when I have the air off, it blows on my feet as well. Usually just set it to defrost lol. Let me know if you have any ideas for a fix!
What did you use for the adaptor for the stereo electrical connecting from the new stereo to the blazer itself? My new stereo only came with the part to connect to the stereo itself and not the car
Do you have any recommendations on a good flip out touch screen stereo I can install for my 98 blazer? This video has helped me figure out what I need to do to install it. I'm limited in funds so I'll be doing the work myself. You made it look so easy!
do you plan on installing a sub and amp into that car? if so would you mind doing a diy video showing how to route the cables and grounding? I have a 2000 gmc jimmy so basically the twin sister to what you have here
I'm having a problem with the radio mounting kit. I don't know what's going on, but the radio is loose for some reason. Like even after I put everything in the way it says, and the way I watched you, I can still easily pull the radio out of the mounting kit.
your head unit should have came with a metal bracket(s), some have one bracket that slides over it like a sleeve and clicks into place, and some have mounting brackets that screw to either side
Thanks Mark. Replaced my stock radio in a 2002 Blazerwith an Alpine unit. Works great except for rear speakers in the back door panel. Checked my connections and they look okay. Any suggestions?
68goldbear a simple way to test is to get a lil speaker (one that u know works) hook it up to the alpines purple and green wires. While its on listen for sound (music) if it works ur radio good. Be sure u connected it correctly. Purple is ur right rear/green is ur left rear
My 95chevy blazer has no power to radio now?? When I was sliding the CD player back into dash the radio wire fell out and made a pop noice from CD player replaced all fuses and went and bought new CD player from Walmart still no power though someone please help it has me at a standstill
Does this new player you put in take CDs? I ask because it doesn't look like it, but I doubt you'd put replace a CD player with something that doesn't take CDs.
+Kyle Blank They do make media receivers that do not play CDs. I am actually going to install one in my 2000 Jimmy. I hardly ever play CDs anymore. www.crutchfield.com/p_105KDX320B/JVC-KD-X320BTS.html
Kyle Blank I’m reading this laughing cause I have been running headunits without CD players for at least 5 years cds are dead brotha who wants skipping music when you hit a good bump that you have to pay for and take up space when pretty much everyone has an unlimited supply of music in their pockets
So did you find out what was wrong with your fan constantly blowing? I have the exact same problem lol i cant turn my fan off. Anyways this video is awesome and i may just go buy myself a new stereo and use this video to help install!
***** Haha ya I found your link in the comments. Thanks by the way for taking time to make these videos. Very well done, and you seem to get all the right angles.
Ok, does an installation kit come with Pioneer Bluetooth CD/MP3 Players? And if not, where can I find one and where can I also find the antenna adapter?
order a wireless bluetooth dongle from ce showroom and get an antenna adapter from bestbuy. make sure its the right one for this truck. and make sure your mounting bracket isnt a piece of shit.
Whenever i try to replace the stock radio, (which i tried with 3 seperate aftermarket radios) , when i turn the music up i hear nothing. My friends say it is because the stock had an amp built into it. I want it to work but it wont at all play music. Why is this?
+Alec Romes If it had a bose then there is factory amp somewhere between the head unit and speakers. You are going to have to back track to find where it is located under the dash.
Question open for anyone who knows about cars and values and radios: Changing from a stock radio on a 1997 Chevy Blazer 4D to an aftermarket radio like a Sony,JVC, or Pioneer. My relatives tell me that if i do this, my car value will go down as the stock one adds value. Is this true? I ultimately would like to sell to get a slightly newer one but i need the car right now and money is tight. So would me getting another radio with mp3 and other new features with it actually deppreciate the value? I think personally that it might increase the value because its added new technology and fucntioning to the car to keep it up to date, audiowise. Thanks in advance, will be keeping an eye on this because i really want to know people's input. Thanks !!!! :)
Doing anything to your vehicle that is not OEM approved depletes value to your car so I would keep your old stereo and replace it if you want a new one.
Stephanie It does lower the value but if u sell it to private owner then it wouldn matter much. the only one that cares would be car dealers and insurance agencys. If u do put an aftermarket radio be sure to have a wiring harness for easy installation/removal
Stephanie in a car as old as yours things like that don't matter AT ALL the truck even with no miles at best will fetch 3 grand. It would have to be immaculate to get 3000
Can anybody PLEASE tell me where the hell is the factory amp on a 2001 chevy blazer I need to unhook it cause it's giving me feed back someone please help me
