i loved our 1.4 306 to death, absolutely amazing car and super fun and reliable, also can´t get enough of that reverse whine, it´s so fun, i do wonder what makes it happen, it´s great lol definetly gonna get one when i get my license
Hi i saw you drove and Astra G and a Toledo (Im in love with the Toledo but sadly they are not available in good condition here) how it compares with both in terms of handling, comfort and performance in your opinion? Im about to buy a 306 XS fase 1 1.6 but im not sure about that engine, and the 2.0 that are available are in far worst condition. Thanks!
Hi! Yes it's hard to find good condition Toledo's now, but sometimes they appear! The 2.0 on a Fase 1 306 you mean the 155cv, the S16? They are hard to find and have some issues with the variable intake. The 1.6L is normally very reliable and solid, a lot of PSA from the 90s got the engine and works very fine! (My first car was a Xsara Coupé with that engine and it's still alive! And I bought 14 years ago to his first owner)
@@testdrivehero Tanks for the quick response, I have basically 2 options, based purely on condition, a 306 XS 1.6, the same you drove but Fase 1, in lovely condition, leather interior, etc. And a Citroen ZX 2.0 16v (Same engine that the S16) in Good condition, but im scared about that engine so is a no for me, in the 306 im talking about the 2.0 8v variant, but they are in faaaaar worst condition. The 1.6 is not a deal breaker for me, and having good reliability is of course a good thing, cars here are very expensive here ($7200 American dollars for the 306 XS 1.6) so reliability is something to consider.
Old PSA temperature gauges indicates real always, and that kind of engines works above 95ºC as normal. You can usually see the gauge indicating little bit above from 100ºC
