Damn... you guys put an incredible video 1 and 2. You made it look so easy it inspired me to do it myself. Yes, my water pump started leakiing. Your instructions will certainly help me accomplish the job Thanks guys!

Done it in 9 hours, valve adjustment incluided, following the video. Not so much luck with releasing the pulley, crank it loose with the help of a friend and a lot of swet. With 17 years and 140.000km (Europe EP2 1.6 Honda) original parts in very good condition, might have lasted another 100k. Thank you!

Done mine the other day, first time doing Honda one, took around 3 and half hours. Half hour of that was fucking about removing the pulley bolt. :D And same as, Genuine Honda pump and belt was on there, pump looked like new, 128000 miles on the clock. Either it had been changed at a dealers at recommended interval, or its been on there since factory, which i say has held up well.

Thanks for the quality video and lighting. Just a quick note that the service manual recommends NOT using an impact on the crank bolt
@jalanieqazwsc
@jalanieqazwsc 5 лет назад
yeah but if you decide to not use a impact. You need to buy the honda key tool. And he was very expensive for one time use.

Hondoo wants you to buy their tool for a thousand dollars that's why they say that.

@@SuperGmann10 Still too much unless you plan on doing a lot of them, if there was no other way then fine but for a one time use it doesn't pay.

@NutzAboutBolts Great video thanks! I recently purchased a 2004 honda civic auto, took it home straight after the roadworthy cert was completed. The AC compressor pulley went the same day. 6 weeks later, new AC Compressor pump, I have just gotten it back this week and now theres a loud steely, fan blade sound coming from the front passenger side near belt and engine. It took longer to accelerate and was making a grrr and grinding sound when trying to get speed up, to make it up a small incline. It is still under the car yard warranty. Should I just throw in the towel and try and get my money back? Totally fed up. Cheers 🙂

If my timing belt broke do I just rotate the bottom to get it in timing or top also ? Also in which direction do I turn it ?

I was under the impression that you were supposed to pull the pin and move that small ear to a stop on the tensioner before you torque the bolt, that is what gives it the final bit of tension, otherwise you run the risk of it skipping a tooth. How is the car running now? do you still own it.

If I was going to use my old tensioner what would I do if it doesn't have a pin just use the spring tension

Thanks for the info. Aren’t you supposed to torque each bolt? If so, how much lbs?I’m also working on my 2003 year end model but all specs and interior are for 2004 model. I already have the parts shipped last weekend. Me and my buddy is going to work on it. But I don’t know the torque of each bolt.

Maybe not... I think there's a groove on the valve cover that holds the upper timing belt cover down.

Top timing cover slips under the lip of the valve cover, 5 min job to undo valve cover and coli bolts and i just lifted the cover a cm or 2 just to be able to remove the timing cover.
