Thanks for the video. I just replaced in my 2005 LJ. Took a little over an hr including cleaning. The removal of the clips was essential knowledge to the simple replacement. Cheers from the Great White North. 👍
Ordered this exact sub from ebay like you suggested... FANTASTIC! I was able to change this sub all by myself, easy. I have a 2001 Jeep Wrangler and had just had a 1000 radio and speakers put in. They never said anything about a center sub. Being a 30s female with no knowledge of radios or cars for that matter was really sad when I start hearing popping noises. When I went back they said that it was the sub and that it would be another 400-2000 (depending on the sub I chose). The sub you suggested from ebay was under $150 and I installed it in under 30 minutes with your help! Thank you! The new system sounds great but all I smile about is the $139 sub I installed myself :)
Awesome video and an even more awesome product. I just bought an 03 tj and it has the optional subwoofer but, of course, it's blown. Kudos to Quadratec for this awesome plug and play replacement. We followed the video and, start to finish, had the console installed back in the jeep in about 45 minutes. Only tricky part was trying to unplug the harness. The subwoofer is definitely an upgrade over the OEM one, with a polypropylene cone versus the paper cone on the OEM. It's very powerful, also. At mid or higher volume on the radio, I have to keep the bass level at zero and, even then, the bass is almost overpowering. At low volume, you can increase the bass level and it's wonderful. I wish I had saw the suggestion to glue cheesecloth over the opening, I would jave definitely done that.
Awesome video. Install took me around 40 minutes-maybe 30 if you factor in the interruptions. The sub/amp in my 2004 Rubicon was not even hooked up…. Sounds way better now! Thanks!
Excellent video. I just followed this and replaced my subwoofer with no problem. One thing that I did was to take some cheese cloth and glue it to the inside of the console housing (over the grill) prior to replacing the speaker and amp. The reason for this is that I am a slob when eating and will always be dropping food crumbs, etc. down inside of the console grill. Without the round original factory cloth type ring which fitted over the original equipment speaker and which does not fit the new sub, I can see lots of crumbs falling down into the new subwoofer. This hopefully will prevent this.
This was a super helpful rundown on how to replace this speaker. Only part that was a pain was the wire coupler, which wasn't intuitive to pull apart. Had to look that up separately. Otherwise, solid!
This Jeep TJ in this video has an automatic transmission, but doesn't have cruise control...odd. Seen a 2003 Jeep TJ 4.0L Sport with 5-speed standard transmission that _had_ cruise control...more odd. Good video here on the "uniquely sized" subwoofer replacement ChryCo. used in these awesome vehicles!
@@SloppyTelopy My 06 TJ is a non sport, 2-door, 6-speed, 2.4L 4Cyl , the console sub and cruise control. that being said with that little 4 banger sixth gear is not useful whatsoever
At least it dosnt have that stock busted ones sound... I added tweeter that i was hugely pleased with. They look nice and stock, and really added to the sound
I have a 06 wrangler. I have seen the speaker grill on the center console but do not have a speaker. Now that I know I'm gonna look at custom fabricating a 12" sub box housing for the center console.
this is a great video. any idea where i can find the subwoofer amplifier? i had it tested and it's confirmed bad but i absolutely cannot find an OEM or other replacement. any help is appreciated.
Thanks so much! My 2005 TJ just started rattling like crazy today out of nowhere. Mind telling me the brand and model of the replacement so I can google it here in Australia?
Greetings, the PO has cut the pigtail connection off the amplifier and he tried to connect the speaker to a auxiliary unit. Do you have an idea where the wires going into the speaker are coming from? I'll try to reconstruct everything else. Thanks
I have an 01 tj mine does not have a subwoofer in the console when I bought my jeep it was missing the lock on the console I've been looking for just the lock with no luck does anyone have any suggestions thanks
Can I be sure there is a subwoofer in there? There is a vent area, but i have no sound coming from there. good or bad. If there is the vent there is it for sure in there?
i have one of these in my truck, I was wondering same thing if it could be put in there with some Micky mouse work www.amazon.com/Pioneer-TS-SWX2002-Shallow-Mount-Pre-Loaded-Enclosure/dp/B01FR5HDZ2/ref=pd_rhf_dp_s_cr_simh_0_9?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01FR5HDZ2&pd_rd_r=51ee571e-b71e-4aea-ae14-12552234c607&pd_rd_w=KqgKQ&pd_rd_wg=tgsiv&pf_rd_p=67aa5820-8762-4202-90ba-881bb99c913c&pf_rd_r=NS9GPG7A3M95W72WB89T&psc=1&refRID=NS9GPG7A3M95W72WB89T
