Incomprendida en su momento transformó a Kubrick en uno de los más grandes cineastas de todos los tiempos y su película en una de las más fantásticas y descomunales de toda la historia del Cine. La he visto 15 veces? La veré más!!!!!

Kubrick era un genio por esta Peli su tecnica para filmar, su interpretación del despertar del hombre,y la vision extraordinaria del futuro ademas las otras obras maestras; Barry Lyndon filmada con luz natural Shining un clasico del Psicodrama, Eyes Wide Shut etc

Que belleza de imágenes, toda una sinfonía de la vida humana que se expandirá en el cosmos. Stanley Kubrick fue todo un visionario.

El interior de esa nave se parece a los aviones actuales con pantallas de vídeo en los asientos vislumbran el futuro en esa película.

Pensar que el original se hizo en 1968, una puta especulación en todos los sentidos...

Un film inolvidable !

También creí, en un principio que era una version en 3D de este film (para usar lentes especiales), pero me di cuenta que era una versión 3D animada como Toy Story de ciertas escenas, especialmente aquellas donde Kubrick utilizó maquetas. En realidad no es una versión en Tercera Dimensión del film, es solo un reemplazo de pasajes en donde aparecen naves y otras máquinas. SE veía raro. Compátrenlas con la versión original de 2001.

Magnífico trabajo. Mil felicitaciones. Yo vi esa película en 1968 siendo un adolescente y me pregunto qué habría hecho El Sr. Kubrick con los adelantos tecnológicos que tenemos hoy en día.

Just about my most favorite movie of all time.....the perfect blending of the background music with the visual presentation of a particular scene is near perfect ! The ballet between the Pan Am spacecraft with the rotating space station is spectacular and this harmony continues throughout the film. I've seen this movie at least once a year since I first saw it back in the late 60s and never tire of it....

The almost painful slowness of this scene reflects the difficulties of operating in Space, in which all objects are in motion and where docking spacecrafts takes a tremendous amount of skill, time and effort. The movie is more realistic than your typical science fiction movie, in which the laws of physics are frequently violated in the interests of looking exciting. The floating pen in the shuttle is a perfect example of the reality of zero gravity.

Creo que lo que se dio en Buenos Aires fue en el sistema CINERAMA O sea la pantalla tenía 180 grados y fue espectacular. Se hicieron pocas películas porque era enorme el costo. Gracias

Tenho o prazer de ter esse DVD assistir esse filme quando tinha uns 11 anos de idade, e quando completei 50 anos me dei de presente esse DVD. Lembro-me quê eu atualmente com 62 e o meu amigo Raimundo atualmente ,63 na época ele já com 12 anos e nos pergunta-vamos "estaremos vivos em 2001" incrível muitos anos de passaram e aqui estou eu com 62 anos contando essa história.

@02:05 no se transmite en la película, pero esa nave de seccion exagonal supuestamente es un satélite de ataque nuclear temprano. La idea es que al momento del descubrimiento del monolito la humanidad es muy violenta, y es lo que decide al monolito a iniciar otro camino evolutivo en con Jupiter y Europa. Consecuencias de filmar en 1968, crisis de los misiles, el punto más alto de la guerra fría. ¡Les quedó precioso!

You forgot the country flags from some of the ships ;) Check out the original, they are there. Stanley spun it as a "space race" film to get funding. He was incredibly clever!

Another goof I detected during the docking, apart from the graphic of the portal incorrectly rotating on the screen in the cockpit, was that the craft was moving toward the portal through the window but staying still from outside. Still brilliance on a stick!!

Neat! I tried this out with an old pair of Red - Bluegreen 3D glasses, and it more-or-less worked. The most--obvious to me was seeing clouds over Earth moving as layers. 🙂

2001, a movie at least 25 years ahead of it's time. A Genius interprise of Kubric. I doubt that other director would be able to create the images of Clark's book, originally a science fiction short story The Sentinel (available free in PDF). I saw the movie in 1969 and was impressed. More than impressed I was mesmerized. This was the year when the Eagle "landed" on the surface of the moon. At that time it was taught that the advancement in space travel was just a question never ending "business". As a matter of fact Panan at that same year was "booking" travellers for moon travel, obviouly, as a piece of public image. Panan was inquestionable. Even in our worst dreams we could foresee what would happen 20 and so years later. IBM is still here but a far cry from what it was before. The great deceiving was that the space "exploration" had nothing to do with science, but with the cold war. Science was a by product albeit of undenieble importance. By the way, those cigar shaped spacecrafts that appears in the begining of the movie was nothing less than H bombs aimed to USA and URSS. One can see the marks of the origin in the fuselage. If you think about it, much more important than a difficult, almost impossible and useless Mars man landing is taking good care of our planet... Space exploration is a joke. The closest star in the universe is a mere 4 light years. Thousand years from us in our current technology.

I have seen this grandious and brilliant film when I was 14 years old.I have really thought mankind is able to do everything positive to develop the human race and the world.But now 50 years later I'm so dissapointed that the mankind is able to distroy the planet and themself.

Master Piece

So you re-made 50 year old+ visual effects with some random 3D software and they somehow look an order of magnitude worse! This is however a tribute to how amazing and innovative the visual effects were at the time.

This film was the most impacted film of the 70ths specially the beginning of the sound tracks that was impressive to me at the age of 8 years, when my father carried me to the cinema. For some years I was looking for this music, when suddenly I heard it in some radio station and since that moment I knew that was the beginning of the Symphonic poem "Also sprach Zarathustra "of Richard Strauss. Maybe this film was more impacting than the "star wars".

Fabulosa musica

3D I think not. The film was shot in 2d. I did try to watch the film on the fly 3D and it wasn’t brilliant because in the scene in the space station the lens shows curvature to get the whole of the set in the frame. With on the fly 3d it just didn’t work. Interesting facts in this scene is Kubrick’s daughter is the girl in the virtual phone call with Floyd. Who’d actually believe that this part of science fiction to ring someone up from anywhere and see them on the same screen. In the same scene the actors wore magnetic shoes like the wobbling magician and a Michael Jackson. The reason was for the simplest reason the actors had to walk on a curve and humans are not designed to walk on curves because they fall over. It’s amazing to think some foresight had gone into this scene for example compare with the first Star Trek Movie they came a cropper with the bridge scenes because it contained an earthquake simulator to give the scenes when the actors are shaking around and the camera moves right or left. The problem? The heavy tv monitors of the 80s couldn’t cope with the shaking and fell out of their cubbyholes in the scene onto the actors below. Who’d have that wouldn’t happen. When you see an earthquake for real capture guaranteed the TVs fall over straight away. They reverted back to the tried and tested everyone shake to the left and the camera roll to the right and shakes.
