You overlooked the worst part of that 1989 Japan Series loss - the Buffaloes were *reverse-swept.* Literally as close to winning the Japan Series as you can get without actually winning it. Fantastic video nitpick aside.

It's been said about a million times, but damn how can you not be romantic about baseball?

This sounds exactly like the "Japanese" team I used in Diamond Dynasty this year. The kicker is I also put the team in Osaka. I say "Japanese" because I had to stretch what counted and include Kyle Higashoka along with Korean, Taiwanese, Hawaiian, and Chinese players to help fill the roster down to what the NPB limits were on foreign players. So basically an NPB team if Japan kept their empire intact plus gaining Hawaii.

Just wanted to let you know how the commentator told Kitagawa in the casual way to step on the base (probably because even he was so excited) was kinda funny for Japanese fans as they usually speak in more formal way, so that part of commentating is reminded when we are talking about this homerun.

The Orix Buffaloes are 2nd in their league, so things are looking up for them.

In the end, I think we lost to the Hanshin Tigers. The Hawks, Braves and Buffaloes all built dynasties but failed to fill stadiums. The ballpark is in ruins, and contract renewals are a mess. Fukudome refuses to be drafted. and Nomo, Ichiro, and Nakamura went to the United States alone. The Buffaloes win 2021 and 2022 are milestones that unleashed the curse of the 2004 horrific merger turmoil.

And the Buffaloes finally got their title when the Eagles won in 2013. Wait what?
