These wagons are so beautiful in appearance and design, it’s a pleasure to own one.

If you can find one with no rust, yes!

soundseeker63 I’ve never seen one with rust in person. I’ve owned 6 of these cars (2 currently), all with no rust. It’s a problem where there’s snow (salt on roads). I live in California so that explains a lot.

@@bobsmithinson2050 Salt definitely has something to do with it, but there are also numerous water and dirt traps in the body that will rust out in any climate with frequent rainfall. In the UK it is rare to find one with no rust and those are usually very low milage cars that lived a pampered life (and will sell at top dollar!) Almost all the cars that have lived normal working lives will have varying degrees of rust. The E36 and E46 are equally as bad. Things seem to have improved somewhat with the E60 and E90...though unfortunately I'm not a fan of either of those designs!

soundseeker63 I would love to show you my cars with not even a hint of rust anywhere (undercarriage included)..little did I k ow what gems I have. Maybe I’ll sell them overseas...haha. Jk, I love these cars. Had an e60 briefly (I don’t hate them) but I quickly had to go back!

Straight six petrol power unit, rear wheel drive, loads of cargo space in the boot and aimed for comfort rather than sportiness. Now that's what I like about the E39 Touring, a brilliant car built to last.

Beautiful Vid, all you need! :) I have owned a 520i Saloon for the past year or so, I love it, but I wish it was a bit more powerful. Can you feel the difference quite a bit?

530d Automatic is the best version of the E39. I love mine in mint condition in the age of 21 years and still in very best condition like close to new. It is the very best car you can buy for money for long distance traveling.

17:29 it was such a pain to watch the guy slamming trunk door shut, knowing there's soft close for it, you can clearly hear the little motor work on 18:03

They are xenons. Proof is the auto aiming feature shown in the video. New xenon bulbs that are of factory color, have a yellowish-white color to them.

These used to be stunning. Nowadays... after the E6x abominations... it's just... small.

It's impossible to find a e39 530 wagon in the states anymore they simply have ceased to exist. You will occasionally find a 525 or 528 wagon, but that's a little too slow for me. 540 is way too unreliable and m5 is too bloody expensive. E39 530 wagon is king

I have a e39 touring 540i and it’s the most reliable of all my bmws. Because I do preventative maintenance, updated tensioner etc etc etc. car is only as reliable as the owner that takes care of it.
@Codeman785
@Codeman785 3 года назад
@@spaceexplorer6636 yes if you do preventative maintenance then your golden. But like EVERYONE except for enthusiasts ignore maintenance. So we are left with unreliable garbage cars until we can scrounge up the money to fix everything. I have an e39 530 but I've been spending the last 6 months dumping money into it and replacing literally everything because all of my parts are failing or have factory date stamps on them.
@spaceexplorer6636

@@Codeman785 Part of classic ownership is more repairs and attention, I still think it well worth it, even a new car cost as much in payments, depreciation and are usually less fun to drive and own. I would rather spend money rebuilding a older bmw than make payments with interest every month for a new bimmer that will be worth a third of what I paid for it when I’m done with payments. Just my take on it.. I also have a E38 as well and it’s been a wonderful car, very reliable and so luxurious, updated everything that it needs and now I enjoy it every weekend. The right mechanic is important not the gloom and doom mechanic that just wants to replace and replace at your expense, unfortunately most mechanic shops and service advisors are paid by commission so the more they can sell you the better their paychecks. Example I was told I need chain guides big expensive repair, I ask how did he come to that conclusion he said start up rattle, well I did my own research and had him install the updated tensioner and as expected the noise went away because the old original tensioner was worn and very weak, 10 years later still running perfect with no noise whatsoever. It’s been a good decision to keep my older bmws and I’m happy I did. . Best of luck, your 530i is a keeper I almost bought that instead of my 540i. .
