🤣🤣🤣 You won't be saying that when the bolt breaks off in the crankshaft (The 4.6L 2v are known for) and see the bill to replace or repair the crankshaft.
I know this is an old video I’m just posting this in the hopes it helps someone out but I found wrapping a hammer in a microfiber and tapping in the crank seal works best
For the pulley bolt. Mine was an 18mm. Use a socket and a cheater bar. Figure out which way your fan spins and prop it in that direction. Make sure the ratchet is loosening not tightening. Bump the starter but do not start the car. Pull a fuse to make sure it won’t start. It takes that bolt right off. I do it all the time. Having trouble on a seal rn tho so I came here
You should never drive the balancer on with a hammer, EVER. You should use a balancer installation tool available at most parts store free with a deposite. You should have put some aluminum antiseize on the idler pully bolt since it is being reinstalled into an aluminum casting.
Ford specifically says not to draw the balancer on with the bolt, as the 4.6L 2v are known for these bolts breaking. Besides, 99% of the time, the bolt is .25 too short to draw the part onto the crankshaft. Also, NEVER hit a bonded damper with a hammer, bushing or not. They are designed for lateral forces, not radial ones.
