2001 Ford F150 - Odometer Repair (Faint Intermittent Lights, Can't See)

I know this is a very common problem on these trucks but I don’t think I can invest this much effort for something I enjoy. Watching it pop on after a long week gives me joy, like an old friend checking in on me. I don’t know what I’m saying it’s been a long day.

That hairline crack was my problem on my digital odometer. One solder and it's like new again! Thanks for the video!

If your in a Northern climate, when I turn on the panel heat. After it warms up, the odometer bad solder expands enough to make contact. Unfortunately moments after it cools down, it cuts out again. Excellent reference video.

I just used your video when I worked on my 99 Ford F150 and it certainly helped. I did encounter a bit of a problem. When I went to take out the light module on the left side of the dash, the top plate came off and out rather than the complete module. I had to gently work the circuit board and then clipped them together. Other than that everything worked out well and now the flashing odometer light is no more Thanks

I honestly did not think it was going to be this easy! I'll take it apart tomorrow and get it fixed

Where can I find the needle tip for my soldering iron? Everyone I come across is to big to work with,I like that fine pinpoint tip to solder the pin with. Thank you so very much for sharing this video. I have a 2002 XLT 5.4L V8 Extend Cab. I don't care what anyone says I love my truck! The first motor went 300,000 miles and then my husband and I had a second 5.4L V8 motor put in a few years ago. Next weekend we're having the entire front end suspension system replaced. After 20 years it's time for that since a ball joint has gone bad but i'm doing both sides ....only makes sense so we don't have to deal with when the other side goes bad. Any good useable parts I take off when making repairs, I always give to other people who might can use them on their same year trucks. Comes in handy and you don't have to go to a junkyard to find that part or trim panels. Anyways I sure appreciate this video you posted sir!! Have a blessed day!

I was at 499996.9 miles and I got home and then when I tried to go out with a buddy to hit 500000 the odometer wouldn’t turn on no matter how much I hit it. I hope this works and I’ll hit 500000 tomorrow
