Thanks for the video, nice job at be clear throughout the whole process. Ots gonna save me a lot of time, I'm not new to timing belts as I do them once in a while at a shop, was just wondering what I was gonna expect from this one, cake. Thanks again

Yep, i JUST did it by watching these videos, never did it before in my life ever. One rusty motor mount bolt was the only issue I really had. With going in and out watching the video and taking lil snack breaks only took a few hours. Car started right up, runs fine, all good. Love this guy does not tell a bunch of stories, just right to the point get er done.

Excellent video. Extremely helpful. Can you describe the process that was used to tighten the crankshaft pulley? That's a ton of torque to hold back by hand.
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars 3 года назад
I'm trying to remember exactly how I held the pulley. I think I used a long pipe wrench with a rag in the jaw; have someone hold the pulley while the bolt was tightened. I'm sure they make a tool to hold the pulley, but I don't have it.

I use large vise grips to lock down on the outside surface area of a *metal* pulley, carefully as to not damage it. Then with the vise grips clamped and locked, I wedge the vise grips so it won't spin while torquing the bolts. 🗜️ = 👍

Why does he have to do TDC if the timing marks are already aligned, which he stated that they are ?

no need to remove the alternator or other bs? Seems easy

Can Somebody Please tell me How many revolutions can you turn the engine when doing the Timing (after replacing the Timing Belt) ?
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars Год назад
I'm not quite sure what you're asking. 2 revolutions of the crank shaft (to bring the timing mark back to wehere it started) after replacing the belt should bring the timing mark on the camshaft back to where it aligns when you put the belt on. If it doesn't align then the belt isn't in time. Hope that answers your question.

Thanks, watched part 2. I lined my marks up, car won't start. Is it possible I'm off 180 degrees?
@CharlesAndCars
@CharlesAndCars 3 года назад
really hard to say. I think I would pull spark plug on #1 and make sure it's at top dead center and check the marks to ensure it's timed correctly.

@@CharlesAndCars I did that with #1, still won't start so I'm going to put it all back together and hope it awakes from it's mechanically induced coma!
