Beautiful truck!! Wish it were mine.😞. Hope you did very well on the auction sale. Mines a beat up, 94ls. Consider telling us what it sold for so we can be relieved to know we probably couldn't have afforded it anyways. Thanks for sharing the tour with us Trooper lovers.
Hi Patrick, great review on the vehicle. See it was posted two years ago; how reliable has the vehicle been? I’m considering stepping into a similar one.
My 2001 went 147k then needed the trans rebuilt, then again at 178k, which I did...at 180k, the torque converter failed. Thats when i found out the transmission problems plaguing 2000-2004 Troopers. Prior to that, i had owned a 1988, which i sold in perfect working order at 250k, and a 1991 that i sold at 278k (both manuals). I loved the 1st gens...my 2001, not so much. It was the 1st Japanese vehicle i owned that didnt make it passed 200 under my ownership. Chevy made the transmission, and that was the problem.
GM made the auto transmission (4L30e). Put a trans cooler on and it will make it last a lot longer. However the Manuals (AR5 or MUA-5) will go quite a long time.
