Very much appreciated. I have been procrastinating on doing this for over 6 months. It started with a coolant leak at the radiator. Replacing the radiator allowed the pressure to resume which blew the idle air control valve seal which in turn fried the iacv actuator and since Nissan didn't have a fail safe in line from the iacv to the ecm, it allowed the sta509a chip to fry as well. At least that's where the symptoms have led me thus far. I just received the chip in the mail last week and this morning I'm going to pull the ecm and replace the chip. And like the other gentleman that commented, I do all of my own repairs too because I'm pretty sure my dad gave me my baby formula in a grease gun. J/k I always felt like I was born with a wrench in one hand and knipex pliers in the other. I'm in my mid 40s and the only things I've paid to have done were tires and custom exhaust. The average price to replace the iacv (2 screws) and change the chip on the ecm (3 screws, 2 nuts and some soldering knowledge) is a thousand bucks. Not even 80 bucks in parts. It only goes to show how valuable the knowledge is that was shared in this video. And if I may reciprocate just a bit, those wire harnesses on the panel under the steering wheel are made easier to unfasten if you pop them out of the panel. They are only held in place by small tension clips. Pretty easy to pop in and out. Just sharing what worked for me.

I replaced the IACV chip in this vehicle for the same reason. Nissan should have recalled these in my humble opinion. I made a video on how I addressed the problem so it won't happen again.

Thank you for this. I have a 98 Pathfinder I do my own work on and I'm in the middle of trying to diagnose what seems to be an electrical problem with the A/C system. the repair manual has a step by step diagnosis procedure which has been helpful, but it includes testing specific terminals in the ECM connector and testing a terminal in the A/C switch (which I have to find next). But this was super helpful in figuring out how to access the ECM.

Alldata even says it is behind the radio and I had to pay for that information.

Thanks for the video! How do you clip the top part back in place?

If you are referring to the tab on the back of the ECM that holds the back in place I had to do it by feel. I held my finger on the slot where the tab went and slid the tab along my finger guiding it into place.
