Good morning Stavros..I like Kenworth w900L. since I'm nearly 6' so I like it. Also the trans is good. But I think Scania S(___) is best 👍. I do love the Scania s series. Also this is loud. And how do you drive a left handed truck in a country where every body drive a right handed vehicles???. I'll loose my mind if I do that.

I was kind of disappointed that it was an automatic. It would have been fun to watch Stavros try out an 18 speed.

I mean it's not different than a 13 speed, just the lower ends can be split.

@@robertgardner4508 Yeah, that's true. They're not really all that different unless you're pulling really heavy loads.

Do 18 speeds still even exist in the US? I thought the US was finally catching up with the world and ditching those ancient 18 speeds with modern automatics. Last time I checked, they just left with having to refine their auto boxes since they where changing to non optimal gears on hills and in cities.

It's nice to have a gauge that gives you a proper read out of what's going on. You can see a problem before it leaves you stranded.
@roundsm18
@roundsm18 4 года назад
It’s the full gauge package. It’s an option, but if you understand what every one does it’s actually a great thing to have.
@roundsm18
@roundsm18 4 года назад
Gareth Ifan it’s what it’s called on the build sheet. Some of us actually care about the temperatures of both our rear differentials, we also like having an ammeter (volt meter is standard), it’s also nice to be able to see the pressure of your pusher axle (in cases where it is equipped). You get an application pressure gauge which is handy (if you know how to use it). You get an external temperature gauge and an exhaust temperature gauge. The US has a lot of different environments and you can in a matter of 2-3 days go from -50 to 90 degrees Fahrenheit which has huge repercussions. The pyrometer is helpful because at least you know before the exhaust catches on fire and you melt a piston that you might be pushing it too hard climbing through any of our mountain ranges. It’s a great option. It costs some, but it can save you a lot in terms of your maintenance costs from the owner operator standpoint.
@roundsm18
@roundsm18 4 года назад
I also forgot: engine oil temperature gauge is another one it includes.

Comfort in driving: European Trucks Win Comfort in sleeping: American Trucks Win 😊
@chikendagr8994
@chikendagr8994 4 года назад
Well I don't know. Modern American trucks are very comfortable because they have air ride suspension, air ride cabs, air ride seats and very long wheelbases, all of which aid in smoothing out bumps, though it's hard to compare comfort without driving them immediately one after the other, especially since they're designed for two different areas.
@matty6848
@matty6848 4 года назад
chiken da gr8 spot on. You simply can’t compare American & European trucks because they are built for totally different environments. It’s like comparing two species of animals that have evolved for their environments. They are nigh & day in difference.

This is a old fashion classic semitruck. It has its own drive-style, soft and ease. I just drove a couple of this fantastic trucks but I feel standard transmissions are more suitable for this kind of trucks. Classic semitruck are a good evolution brand in truck design that require plenty of space to breathe on the road. They're not truck for people that go in a hurry all the time. ¡Good video! It was so amazing to see a classic american truck in Europe's streets.

I've driven older peterbilt 379's, several 80's-to current kenworth W900's, T800's, freightliner coronado's, cascadia's and peterbilt 579's. But I settled for buying a peterbilt 388 for my first truck, exact same truck as the 389 with a 6 inch shorter hood. Couldn't be happier with my purchase 550hp 2150tq, interiors are far better then the older series 379's.

Also, you do have power steering, it's just super tight. If that didn't have power steering you wouldn't be able to move the tires with a wheel that small even if the truck was moving.

It’s crazy how those Pete 389’s hold their value compared to all the other more modern trucks including their own 579. Personally when I was driving 15-20 years ago I loved the Volvo VNL. So smooth, quiet and ergonomic, plus the mirrors were revolutionary as far as I was concerned. Those Volvos made the our company’s Freightliners and Internationals feel like dinosaurs 🦕. These days I imagine all the companies in North America have caught up to Volvo and offer trucks that are just as nice.

Stavros,the air horn is connected to the string hanging in the upper left corner. You have to pull it for the horns and the one on the wheel is the city horn. In the States kids on road trips always make a pulling signal like a fist pump to drivers to get them to blow the horns. Also I don't know how true it is, but I was always told that the air horns where on a pull string as a carry over from the steam locomotives.
