I’ve never seen such a cool boss. He doesn’t just sit and watching everything, he’s also hands on and does it because he loves it. That’s how you know when you’re truly happy when you enjoy your work and honestly, I don’t blame you. Hell I’d drive the trucks all the time 😂 and unload the stuff with the forklifts because I also enjoy doing that. I’ve always said if I were to hit the lottery, I would buy a couple trucks, make them look nice and drive when I wanted and to include my family and friends and just have a small business.
Thank you for sweeping the flatbed after unloading. It is the responsible thing to do and shows maturity of the operator. Kudos, sir. Keep up the good work and looking fwd to more videos!
The Brother doin it with the Nasty Snake Jake.Beautiful Blue ocean laced with all that chrome and Power .Roaring like the Lion King Running with the Lakota Sioux horses on Interstate 495 .👍
Quick tip; when pulling heavy and in 5th direct needing a downshift, stay in high range with your splitter in forward(o/d) position and downshift into that high low gear. That will save you from having to do a range shift plus you’ve a splittable low gear in high range. I use it all the time. I like to go from 3rd, range select to high and use that low gear. Split it and off to 5th. Makes pulling hills so much easier. Old timer taught me that many years ago.
@@user-ee5sg7zz8b Low gear in low range can be used in high range and can be split using your O/D splitter. From 3rd gear flip your range selector to high and then go down from third to that low gear on the bottoms left of the pattern. I usually go into that gear around 10mph. If I’m in high range already and need to corner or recover I recover in that low gear in high range. That way I don’t have to drop down into low range. Works the same way on a 18 speed. Start off in a parking lot big enough for you to get up to 10mph and try it. Once you nail it you’ll find yourself dropping to low range a lot less. Also using low gear in low range from a stop pulling a hill off a light or stop sign can be made much easier by engaging the manual engine fan switch. That’ll help you get it into first gear. Many ways to shift a 13 and 18 speed. You need the seat time and practice to nail it.
@@ryanmeyerhoffer7818 ooohhhh I think I see now. So low gear in high range must be very close in gear ratio to 4th. I never thought of shifting like that, brilliant
@@flintcreektransport love your KW she is a beautiful truck. I wanna buy a 1985 ford cab over and put a flat bed on the back and use it as my every day driver.
Spent a lot of time behind that dash, best designed one, i think. Same doors, just older steering column and windshield. Back when trucks were simple and rode like tractors are supposed to.
I love watching your content as well man I like the fact you have your son out there with you putting in that work amen to that my baby girl is right by my side when I'm working on the mowers and truck she watches your channel with me and enjoys hearing your trucks
you guys should visit australia, we have road trains, in fact to get my Multi Config license, we learnt on a 51 metric ton b double road train, around 112k lb
Trucking is definitely sweet when you have millions: new trucks and trailers, huge mechanic bays, your own yard, your own quality mechanics, in-house brokers and dispatchers, contract freight, etc. I don’t think this can be built without a massive loan, so I would definitely love some content on getting financing for all this capital because trying to build something like this from one older truck and trailer is basically impossible. Love the content. Keep it coming 🫡💯
Good stuff! Except I never let my truck idle at 700, I always try and high idle around 950 rpm ish to keep somewhat of a load on the engine at all times. Uses a little more fuel but a bit healthier I find, plus a 3406E 15.8L sounds so good at 950 rpm with 8 inch stacks lol.
@@redblock5949 that's way too low lol mine regular idles at 700 but I just always idle up when I'm parked, helps keep a load on it at all times. Avoids problems down the road plus it keeps your oil pressure up higher. Everybody is welcome to do what they want but I've just found my truck is way smoother when sleeping at 940-960 rpm particularly over 700
U r right and wrong. It is good to idle higher but mainly for the oil pressure.. there is no load on an idling engine.. but that good oil pressure will save u some wear and tear.. other than that, not idling at all is even better
Love those Cat engines! I did flat deck Super B trailers all last year, and we had to strap (or chain) our own loads. Nice shifting by the way. Not everyone can shift smooth like that. This is why they have auto shift trucks these days. Nobody wants to learn proper shifting, and companies don't want to take the time to teach people who are reluctant to learn. They get tired of destroyed transmissions and engines. Real truckers are becoming more and more rare. Those Jakes are very nice!
Your W900 would've looked good in the Kenworth Parade in Chillicothe Ohio recently along with the factory tour. You got that baby purring down the highway and it's quiet. Sounds better than the plastic choking junk on the road.
Hey Justin! Good video and the truck has come along way. Looks great must be a super good ride falling off those hills and letting it just sing out loud. You take care hope your dad is doing well and everyone else. God Bless and catch you on the next one. Peace my friend!
I ran into truck #130 today delivering mulch in Rochester. Driver is a cool cat. Had a great conversation with him & let me take a selfie !! Did an awesome job maneuvering around obstacles!
I'm currently in NE TX studying to major in Finance. At the moment, I'm attending a two year community college before I transfer to a 4-year university. I've loved trucks since started working with my dad at the age of 10 doing landscaping. I would always see these big rigs hauling and I remember all of the truckers just smiling at me when they passed. I want to get into trucking over the summer because it appeals to me due to it being a man's job, an honest one. I could do internships that are focused towards my career, but I would at least like to experience trucking first. There's something about the sweet sound of a big ol' CAT and critically planning on how to execute a load delivery that catches my attention. I don't know what plans the Lord has for me, but I trust that He will take care of me and guide me towards the path that He believes is best for me. Thank you so much for your videos! I find joy and peace watching you keeping America running :)
All I can say is CLASS ACT! Boss who is a good man of faith that WORKS. Involved, committed loves God, his people and cares about the safety of his equipment as well as his image in the community. All plus here I can see no Minus! It's a joy to see a man of commitment out in the world showing as a mirror the strength of character, commitment to his faith, his company and his trade. I would feel blessed and very proud to work with him. You are a light to others my friend in a dark and gloomy time. Shine on with my prayers always with you! Do the right thing when it is the right thing - that is character. Do the right thing when nobody is looking - that is integrity. I'm proud to be a part of the Flint Creek family through my sub and look forward to more videos! And remember let that light so shine that others can see the Lord in you. I sure can! God bless be safe and well.
Hey Justin, just came across this video. Nice looking truck love the blue and all the lights. Just a suggestion for the flatbed look into getting a winch winder those things help so much getting it rolled up. Keep it rollin!
That is a beautiful flat glass. The bossman may be building me one this year, then i can't pick on your kenworths anymore lol. Also when picking up a trailer or parking you should always have your steer tires straight. 🤣🤣👍 That 550 cat sure does sound good. Another great video Justin happy trails
That Cat is one mean engine. Those Jakes sound heavenly. Gotta love the sound of semis that are straight piped and when they jake down a hill, thats the best sound ever. You gained a subscriber.
@@robhauber1435 judging by engine sound (and yes, Caterpillar engines have different sounds with different engines) this truck more than likely has a Cat 3406E, which has the Jacobs style engine brake.
I saw the New York license plate and had to watch, I recognized some of the roads you were driving on! Beautiful truck and a great attitude- thank you for representing upstate New York 🙂
Yeah I saw the plate as well. I'm from SMALbany. LOL. Nice looking rig for sure. Can't beat the older iron!!! I'll keep my eyes peeled for it out on the roads. Not much nice rolling around up here really so it won't be hard to spot if I ever happen to see it out there putting in work. Thanks for sharing 👍💪🙂✌️
I really enjoy your videos of you talking about trucks, inspecting trucks etc. Love watching you drive the older kw's. I can tell you really get a kick out of it. Only thing youre missing is a good chain wallet and a pair of polarized ray ban aviators.
Polarized glasses don't work for me. I can't see my dash. I wear Ray Ban gradients. You can see everything inside, and you're protected from the bright glare as well.
That is definitely a nice truck, a little word to the wise when you shut the truck off and when you turn it on if you push a clutch in it's a lot easier on your engine and transmission. Nice job keep up the good work.
And in my 48 years of driving I've had shop people tell me to never touch the clutch when starting or shutting off. It destroys the release bearing they say. So I listen to them and never had any issues. What makes me cringe is when green (or experienced!) drivers shut the engine down at fast idle. Guys that over rev cold engines drive me crazy too, and I call them on it. Keep it at idle for a few minutes, and start off in low gear at idle. What's the rush driving on the lot?! I tell these guys to stop being mean to nice engines.
Pushing the clutch in on startup/ shutdown doesn’t do anything other than wear the clutch components if you start the truck in hiérralo which is what everyone does it only spins the input shaft which put virtually no load on the engine if I’m not mistaken
Great video Justin 👌 & the truck seems to run great to. Love what you have don't to the truck so far. Looking forward to seeing her finished. Stay safe and keep up the great work keep on trucking 🚛💨🚛💨🚛💨
Beautiful truck. I'm in my first year of trucking so sad to know by the time I retire manuals might be gone completely. I was trained on 10 and 13 speeds and grew to love and prefer them over a clunky auto shifting when it shouldn't
Great looking truck, nice video, you seem to be very professional about your job, thanks for the walk around and the ride along. I just found your channel and now you have a new subscriber, not a trucker just love the big rigs. Thanks again for the video.
Beautiful truck engine sounds really good, the jakes sound strong, that's a good jag on the trailer too. I worked on trucks and trailers for 26 odd years, pretty much all the maintenance in the small fleet was done by me, the trucks worked about 85 miles away from the shop, so I've done a little driving also. One thing I would do after I heard the 5th wheel close, I would not put up landing gear up or hook up the pigtail and gladhands until i gave the hook on the 5th wheel a couple of jerks to make sure it was latched securely before I hooked up pigtail or glad hands and cranked up the landing gear. I have seen drivers not check that the hook was good and solid and drop the loaded or empty trailer on the ground stretching the lines to the gladhands and tearing up the pigtail. It vs very hard to get the trailer off the ground once it is there. I have watched this happen, not good, I always gave the hook a couple of good jerks to make sure, and wanted the drivers to do the same thing, just something I noticed, be safe out there, people drive like their crazy or got their license from a Cracker Jack Box, just saying, peace out.
Love that steering wheel very premium you could put 100 straps on that load and there is still a lot to go wrong even if you gave me a bonus I would not pull that load and a proper pretrip & post trip takes 45 min to a full hour to perform properly
