My favorite ride from the park, really wish they could make a modern version of it. And they could so easily relocate the Balloons and Starship to other areas of the park again. Glad they at least put the gondola out at the Choclatier, and I was lucky enough to buy a gondola a few years back and have one in my back yard now. They should have at least not scrapped any of the cars, too bad Hershey wasn't doing public auctions that I know of back then and only 4 (as far as I know) were spared from scrap. They should have had the foresight to know they'd at least be great for nostalgia pieces, and it's great they got one gondola and resstored it, but ideally if they'd of kept 3 and kept them in good shape, to have one red, one blue and one white out for display.
@@randomtraveler9854 The manufacturer discontinued making the ride in the early 90s, which resulted in parts becoming rare and then non-existent by the end. Of all of the rides like this the manufacturer made (a total of 7) Hersheypark's Giant Wheel was both the first and last of this manufacturer's ride in existence. I wrote about it here: amusementparkives.com/2016/04/14/giant-wheel-1973-2004/
