Today I'm changing the automatic transmission fluid in my 2001 Volvo V70. I also show you, step-by-step, how to install a new auxiliary transmission cooler and transmission fluid filter, plus I walk you through removing the bumper cover to gain access on these Volvo V70s.
Let's get started...
**NOTE: At the end of the video, I dipped the transmission and reported that it was at the correct level, but the next day I dipped it again after driving 40 miles, and it was a tad high, so I suctioned a tiny amount of fluid out (30ml which is less than an ounce) from the fill tube to bring the level to the correct height. This demonstrates how transmission fluid expands when heated and how it can be difficult to get an exact level. Small additions when low are recommended and if you find the level to be slightly high, suction some back out of the fill tube. I used a coolant hydrometer to pull some fluid out. These are available at any parts store and are the ones with a rubber squeeze-bulb. Best wishes! Everyday Projects**
