After over 230,000 miles it was time for a new power steering pump on my Honda CR-V. You can replace this part yourself and save a ton of money doing it. I used a budget minded pump that I bought on Amazon. You can buy it here (Amazon Paid Links) amzn.to/3JDWp8c

I just replaced mine from a 2007 crv Honda the same as yours but i recomend that removed the pulley before removed the pump because its really hard to take off the pulley once its been removed i had to put it back to removed the pulley because the bolts help to hold the pump when you unscrewed it

Thank you for another good instructional video. I would also not buy a new OEM part on a car with 230K.

Mine just hit 320k and I had to replace both the cooling fans and the power steering pump. I was having to put a half quart every other fill up. Next big chore will be replacing the headgasket and the steering bushings that are starting to pop.

Has the pump held up? I used an aftermarket pump on my Odyssey and it did not produce enough volume - jerky steering. I ended getting a reman pump from Honda (yes, they have them!) for half the price of new. I'm thinking of going the same direction with the CRV.

It still works fine but the Honda one would probably be a safer bet

Does anyone here know, what the i.d. of that upper suction hose is? Long story, but I need one for a custom build application, and this one looks just about right.

Followed your video on my 2007 Crv. Everything went fairly smooth, but now the belt isn't tracking correctly on the re-used power steering pulley. 1-2 treads are off the pulley. Put it back in correct spot and it jumps back off as soon as i crank it. Thoughts? No shims came with new pump.

Either something isn't tightened down correctly or new pump is wrong. I would remove pulley and try to reseat it on the shaft first. You should be able to see if it's in line or not

Everything is tightened down. It's like everything is in a quarter inch too far. That's why I wondered if these ever came with shims or if i could put washers on the back side of the pump? I'll look at re-seating the pulley tomorrow. I'm pretty sure it's on the same way the pulley was on the old pump. It's a duralast pump from autozone. Says its for my vehicle. Everything looks like the old one.

I re-seated the pulley like you recommended and I left the pump installed like the other commenter recommended. Everything is lined up now and works great. Thanks so much for your help!

Still having issues with belt and I think I've narrowed it down to needing to replace belt tensioner. My question is now that everything is off and the alternaor is sitting right there with nothing in the way should I just go ahead and replace it since the car has over 200,000 miles on it?

Super easy. Just turn the wheel back and forth, lock to lock until any whine goes away.
