We need more comparison videos like this! Well done, though I would like to hear more on your thoughts. I got my first one in 91 brand new. It was a head turner then and I still have a 91 Marathon replica by Boano and I love it. Presently I use the back tank for water as the two front tanks are plenty even for Marocco. I never considered a new one 'cos of the dosh and tech and my bike feels lighter and stronger than the new one that I tested a few years back. They are surprisingly similar though, considering the quite fundamental changes. I also owned a couple of 650s but prefer the 750 as I can tear it down and fix it with my eyes closed. The one you show here is the second 750 which I didn't like at the time besides the fact that the air filter is better located on top. It just felt less solid. Fuel consumption is anywhere from about 5 to 6 litres per 100 but that's because I run a different sprocket set up for better off road pull. Interesting fact: put a 750 lump in the 650 bike and it becomes a wheelie monster as the swingarm is slightly shorter too. There is a reason why the older bikes are fast becoming collectors' items. Thank you for posting this vid and if I'm ever in Ireland I;ll be sure to visit the shop. Ride well...
Firstly thank you for posting this message. I wasn't sure how this would be received and the results show low take up for some reason considering there are few videos likes these you RU-vid. Appreciate the detailed comment. Yeah the original launch bike lasted a few years before this one came out. That's pretty good fuel consumption in my opinion for a older bike. Yeah they look gorgeous.. I bet the new fresh ones out of the showrooms looked fantastic! Serious piece of kit.
