great video, thank you,, after the mechanical work replacing a converter , is there any programming required? and also you mention that you drained the transmission fluid? does it need to be flushed or can i get away without draining the fluid on the transmission,? thanks
i have a 2004 audi allroad 4.2 v8. it also has the 5hp19. i had my timing chains done recently and when the mechanic put it back together i think they walked my TQ out a bit. now when I reach 50mph there is a vibration. it wasnt there before. they claimed it was a bad driveline. well, they replaced that and have now adjusted shims 3 times and it still vibrates at 50mph. im pretty sure they messed up the reinstall. motor runs good but i think they were a bit careless when they put the trans back together with the motor and somehow screwed up my TQ. now i am pretty sure i have to have the engine out again...
Damn, sorry to hear that Brian. Did you have an alignment done, is that what you mean when you say they adjusted the shims? I would suggest getting your tires checked and rebalanced, just to rule out an easy thing. There's so much to these cars in terms of driveline that could be the culprit. Possibly an axle wasn't torqued to spec, etc...
Hey man I’m currently mating the trans back onto the engine and I have a concerning thing that happened. I first started by installing a bell housing bolt on either side and ran them in tight. Mating surface appeared fairly if not completely flush. Then when tightening my first TC something slid. Is it possible I pulled the torque converter back off? Don’t want to separate again but will if need be. Any idea what could have slid? Maybe the bell housing sliding firmly into its dowel? Thanks big time
Hey Seth, it's hard to say without seeing your setup. If your luck is like mine, it may have been something bad like the tc moving. If you're not too far along, I would pull it back apart and check it again. Once you get it all COMPLETELY together, any issues will be waaaaay more work
Ik that I'm late with this comment but i just recently had to do the same to my car the website sticker that is on the converter is the German company that make the converter (precision of new Hampton) i hate to say but you well overpaid for the part the company has the for sale for 450 you get 200 back with the core
nice since i dont have a lift or house i have to pay a tunner shop to put my tc in, wanted to know if you have an idea what the stock stall rateing is i got a high stall 400 over stock and am hesatent to use it vs stock rating i have a 2000 a6 2.7t
I heard stock the stall is around 2300 RPM. I believe the one I went with is 2700. Just note, if you go with a Street Sauce, they have a 45 day limit to return your core. I waited until I made sure theirs worked, and I completed my car before trying to send back. I just lost out on my $300 core charge. Not happy about this.
i went over alot of tc sites but went with torco torqueconverter1.com reg stall is 239 and 299 highstall 400 over stock plus that's all this company does 600k tc units sold has heat disappating paint top quality work and no cure charge
When I bought my S4, there was extensive construction that would take place for another 2 years on my daily commute. That construction has just finished, but I really didn't want to have to deal with a clutch in 2+ hours of daily bumper to bumper.
"6 or 8 hundred pounds" LMAO try about 180 lbs. I was able to lift mine onto a heavy duty dolly about 20" off the ground. I think the A8 transmission is about 310 lbs, but I could be wrong.
You were supposed to pre-lube the inside diameter of the seal jackass, with assembly grease. Cake it on around the seals spring to keep it in place during install.
