I used an air compressor with a fine tip Blower and it took glue and everything off in about 15 minutes. Leaving it super clean. I found the scraper to be tedious and not do as good a job. Getting rid of the car soon so I'm just painting mine but yours came out great! Thanks for the info,I needed it to get started.
This video was real helpfull. I have to replace my 2000 headliner and needed the visual on how to remove the trim pieces. It was also good to know what was behind the headliner, wires, connectors, etc. Thanks for the video.
Great job! I have a 2001 LeSabre the same color. My headliner is coming down and I was considering just trying to reglue the current fabric but you have inspired me to do it the right way. Any other tips you can think of before I start trying to pull it down?
Looks like my headliner is glued to the roof. anyone have that problem. getting it separated from the glue seems to be a challenge without tearing the cardboard.
So the Buick should have a fiber glass interior roof insert that the foam and new fabric are glued too. Are you sure yours is glued directly to the roof metal?
@@HOWTOFIXIT2000 It turns out there was cardboard glued to the root. the liner was glued to the cardboard on 4 corners but I could separate the corners successfully.
I have a 2004 LeSabre Custom and I can't see much difference from your 2002. The most important thing I think I've learned is why the fabric is so hard to glue back once it droops - the foam is not part of the headliner board, it was originally part of the fabric. Trying to reattach the fabric to the foam post-factory is like when divorced celebrities reunite - it only seems to work for a while. You didn't even try - you bought new foam-backed fabric and scraped the old foam off. BTW, you were so lucky no wind came up into the garage after you sprayed the adhesive - you would have had autumn leaves adhering to everything. I don't have a garage and the spray adhesive is toxic and explosive, (per the label), so I don't think indoors is a good idea. Two questions: (1) I noticed you are using 3M #74 spray adhesive, which specifically says "Foam" - I was sold a can of 3M #77 Multipurpose. Is there much difference? (2) The fasteners on the roof handles, and probably the sun visors, on my 2004 LeSabre didn't look normal. Are they just "hex head" screws, or something GM has proprietary tools for? You got them off - what did you use?
It's 2018. In CT, I called around for a price on replacing my 2004 Buick LeSabre headliner. I was getting quote for $700. Looks like I'll be busy this weekend. I attempted this for the first time tonight by removing some of the screws, etc. However, I am a 55-year-old old handylady but not experienced with electrical anything. I stay away from that. I have some questions about disconnecting the handles over the back doors, etc. If I sent some photos, can someone advise me tomorrow morning? Help! I actually like doing this work but I need some help from someone who's already done it. I have watched a few videos but most people tend to skip the parts that I need to see.
How did you remove the overhead console? I have a LeSabre Limited with garage opener controls on the overhead console, but I can't get the console loose to drop it down.
Meaning you folded everything up through the door? I’m getting ready to do this on mine, I’m just concerned with the folding it up after adhering everything, that the fabric will let go in areas after it flattens back out
hardest part is getting the roof handles off ,,,you mention removing the screws but you dont show how ,,,i always tell anyone doing an i v if your gonna do one do it completely
True the hardest part about doing anything to your car is unscrewing, pulling out latches ,moldings, pulling out the roof, and so forth. Had a few tips but really didn't help me out much as I had to guess and figure out most of the uninstalling .
Hey man,, I got all the moulding down but the headliner still seems to be attached to the roof some how.. What else is holding it up there ? I saw one post about velcro attachments??? HELP !
