Hope they never discontinue this model, the iconic HD. My favorite. The Deuce was a great looking model as well, but went the way of so many others.

Love your Heritage and your comments. In last decade I went 98 Road King, 04 Ultra, 2016 Limited...all for the wife to get more comfy. The bigger and fancier the bikes got...I noticed the less real HD they felt to me. Heavy, bulky, and too many doodads. When she quit riding...I bought a 2000 Heritage. Love the lope of the carb and the bike has all the storage u need to ride and camp off it for cross country trips. At 6'4" I put 16" Twin Peaks apes on it...and I can ride forever...days on end... just me, the sound of the bike and my own thoughts in my head. Best decision i made about bikes. I don't ever want another bike. My Heritage is perfect for me...and yours looks l like you feel the same about it. Congrats.

hope you keep it, forever! Your Softail is set upFINE! I've had a good # of HD's...we still have a beautiful 2016 Ultra Limited....it's a road machine and totally at home doing 80 for hours and hours on trips all over the US....but I just had to re-buy myself a 2000 softail (actually my wife wanted a softail back so bad...she bought it for me!) The Softail is totally built for pleasure - she's good on it for up to an 2 hours each way...I'm good on it far more....but it's just a perfect bike. Quick disconnects on the bags and windshield..., apes, VH straight shots....and it goes from small trip bike to cruise night in less than a couple minutes! Our new to us 2000 Heritage has the TC 88 and I'd expect it to last 3 times what the 55k miles shows on the odo. Keep the softail forever man...I'm convinced it's the best bike HD has ever made for all around everything.

I have a 2014 and that's my last bike. This is the bike for me and the wife. Of all the bikes out there the Heritage is the best looking one and you can change the look to anything you want and still have comfort. I don't even notice the small pot holes in the road with this bike, but I felt every pebble on my last one. (Bobber).

so i finally got the bike out, i do luv it cause it's got the look, condition and the price was right. only been out for a few hours and tomorrow the flakes may fly again and be in the 30's daytime in massachusetts. now waitin for some warmth.

it looks and sounds much better than 2018 heritage classic

In my opinion, they ruined the 2018 Heritage Classic, destroyed a legend. It's the most god-awful looking bike they make now. That's okay, just makes my 02 even more classic.

Nice, that's how many miles mine had on it when I bought it. You're going to love it, it's been a great bike for me. Best of luck with it. It'll be riding season before you know it.

i had an flh electra-glide that i bought new in 1980 but that's long gone. i've been retired a few years and decided time for another. gonna change the oil and new battery and should be ready to go. looks almost like yours. the guy before added new pipes which are a little loud for me, i'll have to figure out how to quiet'em down some. good riding ahead to ya, steve

one question, did you open the cover to inspect the cam chain tensioners on your twin cam motor?
@pellis0007
@pellis0007 6 лет назад
No, I didn't. My bike has SE203 cams and when they did the cams they put in hydraulic tensioners.

Nice! My best friend who I ride with all the time has a 98 FLSTC Evo and I love it. Such a classic look and sound. It was the 2nd Heritage in the video background.

Thanks for the compliments. The Road Tech and the Speedo/Tach were added by the previous owner. I can't tell you too much about them other than the Road Tech was originally for a Road King and retro-fitted to the Heritage. I removed it almost immediately as I prefer a cleaner uncluttered look. The speedo/tach is an aftermarket HD available from their website or catalog. I do believe there is a newer version available that is even nicer than what I have. By the way, if you're interested in the Road Tech, I still have it.

@@lanceandmelanierogers6255 Yes, I believe I still have the setup. I removed it almost immediately upon buying the bike and I'm pretty sure I still have it. I'll check.

Very nice sir. 2002 was a good year for harley and the last year for the strong bottom end engines with timken crank bearing. I have a 2002 dyna wide glide. It and the heritage softail are the best looking harleys ever made in my opinion

JohnnyRebKy Don't the newer ones have a better engine? I am looking to buy a Heritage Softtail.
@pellis0007
@pellis0007 7 лет назад
Bigger definitely, and I suppose better. Personally I love my carburated TC-88. I had an EFI TC-96 on my Ultra which was nice and smooth, but I like the rawness, the rumble, the shake out of my ole 2002. I think they are up to the Milwaukee big twin 107ci now. As for the Heritage Softail, I don't think you can beat it's classic styling. Go for it!
@Morten_Nielsen1979
@Morten_Nielsen1979 7 лет назад
Well, it's not a racing bike, so the technical level of the engine and brakes are not so important. But nice to know a little about the model's history before I decide. All I know by now is that I want it in black. Those codes you write, are they the names of the different generations of motors for the Heritage Softtail?
@pellis0007
@pellis0007 7 лет назад
Yes, TC-88 is the Twin Cam 88 cubic inch, TC-96 Twin Cam 96 cubic inch, EFI=Electronic Fuel Injection, etc. And good for you, nothing nicer than a Black Harley!
@Morten_Nielsen1979

pellis0007 I hope I find a good deal on one just like the one in this video. Normally black is not my favorite colour, but for this model it just hits the spot. Moreover, my girlfriend loves black Harleys 😄.

What sound system is on the bike?
@pellis0007
@pellis0007 9 месяцев назад
That was from a Road King Classic called a Road Tech. It was on the bike when I bought it but I removed it soon after. I preferred having a windshield bag and the radio interfered with that. I later went to Cardo communication headsets and got my music that way.
