My only " complaint " is the 2-in-1 muffler. My previous bikes, popping the silencers and drilling out the baffles was stupid-easy. Not so on this one. And just on general principal I'm not spending 700 - 900 - 1200 dollars for 12 extra decibels. A pity. Otherwise the bike is perfect.
Amazing bike. I just bought my first motorcycle this week. I picked up a 1999 Honda Shadow VT750 ACE with only 21,000km on it. This has always been my favorite looking bike. I'm getting my licence in the spring. I have always wanted a bike ever since I was a kid and never had a chance. I'm 32 now but better late than never.
SirCaleb I'm with you always wanted a bike Tuesday I picked up a 2003 Honda shadow ace 750 I take my class on Tuesday and weds I'm 32 took me awhile but I'm so ready to rock
I have a Harley 883 and it’s great. But I also have a Shadow 750 ACE Deluxe and it’s amazingly smooth, Nothing fancy just a good looking comfortable ride. It’s my Everyday ride. 3 hour commute and it’s just plain pretty, comfortable, reliable, and gives me “ Umph” when i need it on the Garden State parkway. My Harley is my Bike meet bike. And with all due respect.. I am a married man with children… But this brother is handsome, Well spoken and I would purchase a bike from a brother that is no B.S. and he is a Pro rider, you can’t get better than that. Blessings Kaplan Motors… at 55 I am a huge fan…. Not to mention my wife looking over my shoulders to take a look at “ The biker guy” LOL! Thanks for the great vids. Keep em comin!
Yes, I'm 6'0 and the bike is fine. If you want to stretch your legs you can get pegs for highway bars, but I haven't had any issues with the stock pegs.
Bigger is not always better. I've ridden them all sizes and makes. My favorites are the Shadow 750's and the Sportster's. Unless you ride the interstate all the time, these are the best bikes out there.
@@stephenrichie4646 I'm only 71 and I love the mountain twisties. Most old guys play golf on pretty days but I like to ride. Being retired and not in a hurry, every pretty day is an excuse to "go out and play". "Boys and toys" is still a rule for us. Usually when I stop for a pit stop and coffee break on my rides, I end up in conversation with other bikers who may or may not be with their bikes at the moment. Riding solo is not really being by yourself. I don't ride interstates and I don't ride Main Street. I go out and smell the roses (or road kill) along the way.
I saw a Shadow Ace for sale recently with 152,000km on the clock. No way that a bike with that many kms would be a problem. Damn Honda makes a good bike. (I ride an 11 Aero)
I'm 6'4 too and it seems like these Japanese choppers (virago, vulcan, shadow, intruder) are not the right fit for this height. Guy on the video is 6'2 and it looks that even him could use a little bit bigger frame. Even though, he looks more comfortable on Shadow than on Intruder or Vulcan, I think that for us they would be small. The best way to find out is to try them ourselves. If you have any updates on this matter, please reply. Thanks and have a great day
Btw, I am talking only about leg space and maybe esthetical aspect. I don't mean this is not enough power or something. For me personally 250cc would be enough if my legs are not cramped and I don't look like a sack of potatoes when I sit on the bike
Someone just gave me a 2002 Honda Shadow for free. Cosmetically, it's mint, but tank is rusty and it's been sitting for 5 years. Is it worth hauling away?
I can come pick it up and I'll haul it off (to my garage) for you... free of charge. 😉 If it wasn't mistreated you could totally fix it up. Which Shadow is it? What size/cc's is it? I got my wife a 2002 Spirit 750 for cheap and tricked it out. It's been fun and easy to work on and it runs great.
There cheap to buy we have several bikes but the Honda 750 vt shadow wins every time for reliability looks and good speed to boot, better than a Harley sorry Harley guys but it’s true these are legendary machine down side pity not made in American now we have side car attached she still goes hard enough for side car use. By the way great job with the vid love it thanks
Harley kept sueing honda over this model, Honda went from dual crank pins to single crank pins , after that Harley issued a law suit trying to say honda copied the "Harley sound" honda even had a made in the USA tag on the factory seats,
Great bikes! 2 years ago I bought one from `97 with 7400km on the clock. Since then I have been driving it towards almost 14000km. We, me and my wife, used it as our wedding vehicle! Decorated with flowers and a just married sign on the back :D. So I believe this bike will stay in the family for a very long time ;)
I have that exact bike I bought it from a friend who got in a bind .I only have 1800.00 for it and I have had it 6 years never a minute trouble.I got real bad sick and spent a few months in the hospital. It ran perfect when I pulled it on the trailer. After setting up for almost a year It only runs with the choke on .I am much better now and I'm starting to work on it .I don't think it needs e rebuild kit only cleaned out good .what is your advice on this matter ?
Love mine just bout at the beginning of summer first bike. Hopped on it and hit road. Took the baffles out and rejected it. Replaced chains and sprockets. Installed me an ignition switch. Cause my dumbass lost the keys then found em two weeks later. Anyway great bike my ass is 5 5 140 lbs so perfect bike for me. Only thing is It needs a 38t sprocket instead of 41t. U loose acceleration but your not reaching for that extra gear either doing 65 plus
Hey Ken just checking out the video of your buddies 88 Honda Shadow 1100 black that you're trying to sell for him beautiful example of a Honda Shadow thirty-year-old bike and it looks brand new very well taken care of bike. I have an 05 Honda Shadow Sabre that I am currently riding I picked it up from my next door neighbor who had it sitting under a tarp in his backyard for the past two years I picked it up for fifteen hundred bucks slapped a new battery in it and it fired right up that's what I love about Honda's man they definitely run no matter what. hope your friend got a good price for his bike.the one thing I'm trying to figure out is you look different in every video and some of them you have long hair with facial hair and some of them you have short hair with no facial hair I'm trying to figure out if the if the short hair look is you currently or if the long-haired look is you currently either way you look great man. Lol. Take care and have a wonderful and safe New year.
My 2001 Shadow ACE was built in Indiana. I turned it into a triple bagger and now have over 156,000 miles on it. Reliable. Mostly tire and chain replacements, and other basic maintenance. Great bike. Nice to see one with only 1050 miles on it. Definitely a great find.
@@evilpanther990 I overtightened an engine stud and stripped out in the crankcase. Then I tried inserting a helicoil. To do that, I had to make the hole bigger and rethread it. The helicoil was too weak for such an important fix, so I had to bore the hole even larger to put in an E-Z lock. I didn't have a stubby drill and tried it by hand, resulting in an off-line stud, which I believe caused a compression issue. To fix the off-line hole, I have to replace that part of the crankcase, which means replacing both halves of the crankcase. Other than an oil leak that spurred this fix, the engine has been bulletproof. If you found one of these bikes with only 1000 miles on it, you've won the Lotto. I have seen far too many posts by guys who have traded up and in the end regretted losing their 750.
Lmfaoo good one Charlie. HD employees and Honda employees will soon meet for coffee down the street from their factories in Asia. Slap an American flag on the HD and people will believe anything hahahaha
