I loved mine. Did add new parts . I was 3rd owner. Bought it in 2015 had 54000 on it , had it 3 yrs sold it week ago with 72000 miles on it. I did a lot of cosmetic additions also replaced rack n pinions. New radiator, new tires few other major parts. I felt it was time for a newer vehicle. 16 yrs old she did well. New owner said he'd never seen a jeep so clean in and outside including mechanically super clean engine. Miss ya jeep girl.
My 2000 Jeep Cherokee with the infamous 4.0 L inline 6 that I bought in 2019 managed to get over 400,000 miles before the engine finally went & obviously wasn’t in the greatest shape cosmetically but let me tell ya it ran like a clock then when it finally said it had enough it gave out right in my drive way. I only wish FCA would still make there products that bulletproof like back in the days but it seems like these manufacturers don’t want to focus on longevity anymore.
Those are great cars. I had one when they first came out in late 2001. I wish I still had it. I've had four jeeps. Now I wound up with a 2002 grand cherokee, I like it too.
If you keep the maintenance up, they are, i believe, a good buy. Funky thing to drive, that needs to have wide shoes, to keep them stable on the road. I always have a little laugh, when i see so many modern stuff, modelled on the same shape.
It’s gotten really popular here in Athens Ga. I currently own the same model myself....I recommend putting wider tires on it. This one has a poor center of gravity. I use 235/70 R 16 the 215’s are wayyy too small for the weight of this car.
Sometimes people people just do not need to drive very much. I live 5 miles biking distance to work.. gotta remember to start it every week or 2 for 20 min ;)
I know a couple of people with them and they have had nothing but TROUBLE! One lady is selling hers' for $1500. She would spend another note almost ev every month on repairs.
Jerry Washington I have had just the opposite experience. As long as you change the oil and do normal maintenance... These things are virtually indestructible. They're like little tanks.
Unless you like spending money on repairs or turning wrenches... these things are trash. I have spent as much repairing it as i did buying it. Not worth anything as trade in and no resale value. Chrysler should be ashamed of their crappy vehicles, but are not.
ralph crosby it's by far the most reliable car I have had I've had quite a few. My jeep has 235,000 miles on it and still runs strong. These are little tanks.
