As I watched this game I was thinking how Miami lost the championship in double overtime on a bad call by the ref... Bad enough losing a game like that but shouldn't be so with a National Championship on the line... Still ticked off about it...
You’re absolutely right, the CANES did get screwed by the officials! And found out that official from Ohio... and he owns a Sports-bar restaurant, which is a mile away from the campus of OHIO STATE in Columbus, Ohio.
I thought my Hokies were clawin' back, but Miami was so fast and that quickness always beat Bud's defense. Great time, though... leavin' DC for South Beach, catching the party bus from the Clevelander to the Orange Bowl. Loved that rickety old stadium... I think I was at the 2 yard line in row 7 million. Made it hard to track down the beer man.
Testing, testing, is this thing on... I pray that you are watching this Coach Manny Diaz. We NEED to be 'the team to beat again'. Move us forward... The 🙌
It's interesting when you watch the 2001 season games vs the 2002 games. The defense was definitely not up to the standard of the 01 team, but our offense picked up the slack big time.
I'd agree. Running Qb's in particular made us break contain.....even OSU's QB got his rocks off on the ground. The biggest difference though, was that in 02 we'd knock a pass down. In 01, we picked it off and ran it back.
I remember thinking this game was in doubt. They were within 11 with almost a full quarter to play, and it was a big comeback to get there. I was very nervous, thinking about the previous season when they blocked the punt and got back in it. We always found a way to keep the other team in it in 2002, like that stupid throw-back to Dorsey that would have buried them but instead brought them back to life. It finally caught up with in in the Fiesta Bowl.
Willis McGahee could've been a Heisman winner in 2002..🤔Virginia Tech exposed UMiami in this game..UMiami won but allowed VT to score 45 points..😆🟧🏈UMiami was good in 2002 but struggled vs. Ohio State in the BCS Championship ⁉🏜
I remember the article in the globe the next day about the Payton play. The author of the article said, "What the Hurricanes were not saying is that they wanted Dorsey to have his own Heisman moment"
@thefreashking so the marlins can have their own stadium. ...new marlins stadium is built on top of the orange bowl....if i were miami U, i would build an Orange Bowl II
You need to post the 1992 Sugar Bowl between Alabama and Miami, I know Miami got their ass kicked in that game but George Teague from Alabama had a stud game and the play he ran the Miami receiver down and caused a fumble is absolutely a top 10 all time effort play, gotta respect that kind of effort.
What a great team! I was there too! I went to all the games for the last 35 years! VT has been the Miami Nemesis for quite a long time. They used to beat us using that slow boring football, and had great defenses and special teams. But one thing, when they were telling everyone that VT was the king of special teams, it was the Miami Hurricanes that had the numbers! That used to aggravate me to no end, oh well! Now that VT is ending an era while coach Beamer has retired. What will happen? Will they get better? Who knows, they might have to go thru the same kind of stuff like Miami! But telling the truth, means that the Miami Hurricanes has been the great football program for more than 20 years!
Game could have been like 63-28 had the Hurricanes not done the dumb Halfback pass that got picked off and returned for a TD. Anyway, man it seems like forever ago Miami was this explosive. They've been in the ACC for over 15 years now an havent even won the ACC a single year. This program fell apart.
its funny watching the (Highlights) when it's pretty much the whole game, every other play Miami did something with the ball. Back then Miami had a offense, defense and a running game. Now they don't have a quarterback, with a good running back but with the defense on the field practically the whole game. It sucks watching the U now. :( I'm a huge U fan and want this team to come back LOL
hey canes freak 2001, post up Saturdays Highlights. Logan Thomas went ape on you. All in All it was the best Va Tech vs Miami game arguably ever! ps: goodjob beating a beaten up injured Mike Vick in 2000 to end our BCS hope that year for 2001's bowl season, Thats not a win to feel good about, rocking a limping vick all game. :P
