2002 25HP Tohatsu converting from tiller to remote. Checking throttle movement, gearcase engagement and idle in gear. The engine is so quiet there is more prop and water noise than engine noise. Boat is 16' Stumpnocker 5 center console with jack plate.

What does this video have to do with a tiller conversion? I see the steering is installed but the title is very misleading.

I have the 2003 Mercury bigfoot 25hp wich I am told was made by tohatsu for mercury. It has a till handle and I need it to have the conversion. I had no idea it would be so hard to find a set up to convert it , I just want to get all the parts and hook this thing up. I need this motor to push my 16ft pontoon boat. any help woudl be great! seriously. it;s already time to go fishing and I cannot go till this is done. :o(

Quite a bit. Luckily I was able to trade my tiller setup for a Tohatsu Control box that had the key, key switch and wiring harness (off Craigslist). With the trade I also got the drag link and drag link mount. Under the cowling I had to order the bellcrank parts that control the shift cable. After all of that, it was just the usual cost for the control cables, steering cable, helm and wheel. You can actually make your own wiring harness using the Tohatsu wiring diagram and use a generic key, key switch and lanyard mount. Breakdown: SeaStar Xtreme control cables $84, uflex sidemount control $204, uflex steering cable-rotary helm and destroyer wheel $155. If you have to buy a drag link, that would be around $120 and if you have to make your own harness that would be aroun $100 for the key, key switch, lanyard kill switch, wiring and connectors. Parts for the bellcrank under the cowl were only about $28. Just about everything I used was brand new and some of the parts could be bought used to cut costs. would you by any chance have a complete parts list and numbers for what is needed under the hood for the conversion. I have the remote control box, steering and throttle cables. am unsure of what drag link and and mount and bell crank parts. thank you @@snookwhaler

I have teh 2003 4st mercury Bigfoot. apparently it is actually made by Tohatsu " Nissan" same as this one. I need the part numbers to buy the parts or make them or some instructions to convert to pontoon use. I just have a tiller handle at the moment and that won't do. I am about 100% sure everywhere I have looked so far is trying to rob the crap out of me LOL> I mean, the motor is awesome and books the same with controller or tiller but I have been getting folks saying they will sell me a throttle box for 5 hundred dollars! wth? and one little link to steer for 139.00 amazing. anyway. there is no way it's 11 hundred dollars to do this is there? im screwed if it is. im told this motor was actually made to push pontoon boats. how can it be so hard to get controls for? why is this video titled as instructional? GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
