I'm in the US Air Force and I'm stationed over in England and I have the UK spec version of this car and I love it. It's a blast to drive. Planning on building me one when I get back to the states. Great build man, looks good.

I did use a wagon. it has been awhile since i did all my reseach so im not sure about wheelbase difference. It was crazy how much stuff was the same or close enough to bolt in with minor modification. rear end and all subframe bolts were identical. whole car is the way to go if you can find one

Did the wrx you used a wagon as well? I am planning the same thing and found a wrx engine/drivetrain for sale but I believe it is from a sedan. I am going to look at it later this week. Did you have any issues with the driveshaft fitment or anything like that? Rear diff bolt up to the frame? Etc...

I have the same year outback sport and my engine is shot. Was swapping over the wrx to the obs a plug and play or is it a lot harder than it seems?

hey, i wanted a custom ride! I even used the 97 bumper support beam, cut some out of the middle to fit. shaved the top of the bumper down and glassed in the low spots. mounted at bottom with aluminum brackets. its as tough as factory but i hope i dont have to test it.

I'm planning on the same build, very soon.. trying to find a wrecked bug-eyed wrx.. You swapped the dash, but why not the door panels ? do they not fit ? I'm curious because I plan to steal and swap as much as possible.

a good amount of fab. to bumper beam. used some bondo to fill in headlight holes. trimmed the high spots. used aluminum bar to secure bottom and sides.

This dash swap is giving me headaches right now. Did you mount the 02 support beam to the existing tabs on top of the tranny using the the 2 holes on each side? ANY help on this dash swap would be greatly appreciated. I had a bad harness merge and I half ass did this swap with the original components before I realized that I was a dumbass. Anyway, have harnesses figured out and have the proper 02 components now but actually mounting the beam and drilling new holes in the brackets and test fitting is killing me without another set of hands. There aren't a lot of people who see this as easier but the finished product is so well worth it. Hardly anyone has done a write up with any kind of real detail

That front bumper fit pretty direct. Did you just shave the circular part down since the WRX headlights are circles?

body was $700, WRX was $2500. probably another $1500 on cobb tuner, clutch, perrin swaybar and intercooler hoses.

wow, this is exactly what I've been thinking about doing haha I want to get the same body style, impreza sedan tho. And put a WRX engine in it. How compatible was everything that comes stock on the car, what else needs to be swapped with the engine components and did you have to get a different transmission too?

That's fresh that u fit the bug eye f/bumper. 1st tine I've seen it. I'm doin this same swap as well, I've done a couple, but I've always had to merge harnesses. I'm curious to what exactly u had to re-wire to the wrx harness besides lights? I have a 98 L Coupe so it shud all be the same besides doors. If I gave u my email, could u give me a quick run down?

Make sure the final drives match, but they all should have the same bolt patterns. just do your research, its been awhile since i did mine!
