Just a quick video showing how I installed a Serpentine Drive Belt and Tensioner Pulley on a 2003 Toyota 4Runner with the V6 4.0L Engine. This is the same for several years that have this same engine, and is also the same for the Tacoma and some other vehicles that have the same 4.0L engine. The bearings do wear out on these pulleys, so it may be a good idea to plan on changing them all out when doing this job.
Tools Needed:
14mm deep socket and long handle ratchet or breaker bar
10mm socket for removing the skid plate
The replacement pulley and bearing also came with a reducer sleeve that we didn't use due to the fact that it didn't allow the pulley to sit tight on the tensioner shaft. I think this was because the tensioner already had a sleeve on it and it wouldn't sit right if I tried to add the reducer sleeve. It seems to be working fine for now, but I would be happy if anyone can share some info on that and/or if they had to use the bearing sleeve.
This vehicle is due for a timing belt / waterpump job along with the leaking valve covers.
