Did you wiring harness wire colors match the stock harness color that you spliced into? I noticed mine don't match directly and I'm nervous cutting them and crimping them and they aren't the right pins.
Hey Patrick! On the original sprinter radio it has a fader. Now why is there a fader? Well, I investigated the back of the radio and searched on google what each pin was for. I actually found that the radio has pin points in the radio for rear speakers. I went to a junk yard and bought the female plug from a wrecked sprinter. I extracted 4 pins to plug into the rear lead pins. I then inserted them into my plugin and wired 6x9 speakers and mounted them to the cargo wall. Now no more blowing the 4inch speakers.
Thank you for this excellent video I popped out mine in minutes. Bought an excellent unit from Crutchfield with Bluetooth. I removed the dash cover for the speedo and the left hand pillar cover and snaked the microphone wire over to the new radio. everything fit perfectly and there are no visible wires .
No sorry. Just standard single 12" sub in truck box with amp mounted onto partition behind drivers seat. Main power straight to battery, ground straight to big bolt holding seat to frame, remote going to in dash receiver. I did replace 4" in dash speakers to handle wattage from receiver
thank you for the video. Once you installed the new radio did you still have the removal slots that the original radio had , just in case you needed to slide the radio out again ?
Those tools remove factory radios. Aftermarket receivers do not require these tools however some use a different tool to release the clip that holds them in.
Don't think you can buy this radio anymore. I originally got it for my 3000GT then upgraded that radio transferring this one to my E150 cargo van now moved it to my sprinter. But you can search Kenwood model # KDC-255U
Started to notice Walmart is not carrying some items anymore. Or one wont but another 3 miles away does. Drives me nuts. But here is a set that will pull out any radio you can come across www.amazon.com/HFS-Professional-Automotive-Stereo-Removal/dp/B07HK2XFZS/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=car+radio+removal+tool&qid=1592721066&sprefix=car+radio+re&sr=8-5
The harness connects directly to the factory plug. Since every radio is different you use the adapter from new radio and splice the wires together. If you notice the big clump of clear cone looking crimp on connectors that is where the wires meet. They are pretty good at being color coordinated so basically just match colors and tie them together
Thank you for this video. I'm trying to upgrade my 05 sprinter radio. Do you know if they make one that fits an 05 that would have wireless camera capability ?
Check with Crutchfield. They can tell you exactly what radios fit any vehicle. I happened to luck out that radio I put in my '99 E-150 was same depth but it is tight and takes some work pushing wires around and out the way
@@patricktrammell7663 They have a Jensen Car910x that says it fits. I'm not sure though if you can play a wifi (not wireless, but wifi that currently plays through my ipad) backup camera through these radios or if they have to have a hard connection through AV cable
@@georgepotter353 Jenson is a brand that I will never use. They are cheap for a reason. Not sure about the wifi and Bluetooth stuff. Not into that. I'm barely graduated into new tech so I'm good with my USB thumb drive or MP3 player into auxiliary port. As far as cameras go only one I use is TomTom Bandit on dash cuz of idiot drivers.
Some walmarts have stopped carrying them but here is a set that will pull any radio www.amazon.com/HFS-Professional-Automotive-Stereo-Removal/dp/B07HK2XFZS/ref=mp_s_a_1_5?dchild=1&keywords=car+radio+removal+tool&qid=1592721066&sprefix=car+radio+re&sr=8-5
Thanks, Getting ready to do this. Where did you get your inter-connecting harness? I bought my Kenwood from Amazon,....didn't see a harness listed. Also, as another has asked, did you do a video on your sub and amplifier?
No I did not video that installation. All I have is 1 12" sub with amp that sits in a truck box right behind drivers seat. Amp I ran self tapping screws and mounted to metal partition. Changed out front speakers. OMG this huge fricken van and only speakers it came with were 2 4" in the dash. Crazy
@@patricktrammell7663 I have tried your method and cannot get the little metal pieces to work; I ordered them off Amazon and they are identical to yours; don't know what i am doing wrong.
@@w5sq when you push the keys in make sure you hear them click. Once in pull on the radio unit itself not the key hole. It sounds as if your radio is stuck. Heat, insulation, or even dirt and crap can cause havoc.
