Transmission replaced at 320k due to slight grinding going into 3rd gear
Virtually stock -
SiriusXM added
Tsudo exhaust
Cold Air Intake
Aftermarket wheels and taillights
Goal is to join the million mile club with it.

What’s funny is I just installed these taillights but in black housing today and your video was recommended. They actually look way better than stock on my black car but I plan on doing a light tint wrap. I called every company that had these online in 2020 and all were discontinued so I had to order them off eBay from Canada.

I now change the manual transmission fluid every 100k. I use Redline MTL for my Accord. I didn't do that for the original transmission and I messed it up. I learned from that and am now better about taking care of the transmission. My replacement transmission that came out of a salvaged Accord now has over 550k miles on it and has no problems.

You don't have to wind it up to get the power out of it like the 4cyl. Only downside is replacing the timing belt is usually around $1k every 105k miles, but I think I would've wore out a timing chain by now with these miles. Wow, great find! If you don't have good luck with the aftermarket stereo, you can find people on ebay to sell you a refurbished "block" for the factory radio which will fix the lighting issue. It's an easy swap. Just unbolt and unplug yours and then swap in the refurbished one. If you do this, you'll want to look at the 4 character alphanumeric code on the front of your radio to make sure you get a compatible block. The block will come with a different radio code to unlock it after you apply power to the new block. There are some aftermarket radios for these cars that don't really work properly with the factory hvac controls so that's why I replaced my block. If your car is a v6, stay on top of the timing belt changes and transmission fluid changes. The early 7th gen automatic transmissions in the v6 cars gave lots of people problems. Ok. I'm not sure if you heard this yet or not. The early 7th gen v6 auto transmissions gave a lot of people problems and there were several tranny failures. I think it was something about the valve body design that caused overheating. The later 7th gens in 06-07 are apparently better and were changed slightly. There's a lot of info on driveaccord.net about this stuff. One of the mods t-rd has a v6 sedan. He got his transmission rebuilt with an upgraded valve body and he also installed a separate external transmission cooler. His car is well over 300k now. Hopefully yours will be good to you. Frequent transmission fluid drain and refills will help. There's a tag on the transmissions with an alphanumeric code. The BAYA code transmissions were supposed to be the better ones. Other than that, timing belt changes every 7yrs or 100k miles is the other maintenance item to keep up with for these engines. These are great cars and I still love mine.

@txaccord
@txaccord 3 года назад
Just saw your second comment here. Our silver has held up well. It's starting to have a couple of spots develop aft of the moonroof. Nothing I can do about it. We did replace the transmission at 320k, but my replacement tranny has about 500k on it now and is fine. Two big things about your car: 1. For the V6, the timing belt should be replaced at 105k or after 7 years. If yours has never been replaced, I'd recommend doing it asap. It's expensive...an independent shop will prob charge around $1k to do it. These are interference engines so if the timing belt snaps or skips a tooth on the pulley, it will destroy your engine. 2. The auto transmissions in the early 7th gen Accords were not reliable. If you have an 06 or 07, it prob has the BAYA code transmission which is better than the other one. Still stay on top of transmission fluid changes to get max life from it. Driveaccord.net has lots of great info on these cars and is a pretty active forum.

@txaccord

No. It was something we found when we unbolted the engine from the top of the mount. The top piece of the mount was completely loose and we could pull the top off. It had just been sitting in there. Anti-sway bar bushings and end links can cause rattles. If you've never done ball joints, it could be those too. Strongly recommend OEM lower ball joints for these cars. I had all kinds of problems with Moog lower ball joints. Finally sucked it up and bought OEM. Car has been happy since then.

I hadn't checked in here for a long time. Glad to see some comments. If you go to driveaccord.net, look in the 7th gen forum photo gallery. I have a thread on there that tells the car's story. Keeping up on the timing belt changes and just trying to address issues as they present themselves has served me well. It gets Mobil 1 5w-20 and Redline MTL fluid. The transmission was the biggest issue by far. Other than that, it has mostly been wear items like brakes and suspension that need attention just from excessive use. I'm only on my second clutch. 320k on first one. Car has 732k on it now so second clutch is at 412k now. I really like this body style and feel like it has aged very well.

It may just be for the 4cyl. I'd have to look in my owner's manual to be sure. He said everything was good and we didn't need a valve adjustment.

Thank goodness I came across this vid haha. I've been wanting to buy an Accord v6 6speed, but the sedan. I saw a white one for sale that is near me, but I'm kinda hesitant because it is sitting at 300k. Would you consider buying the car if it were you? I understand it's hard to not consider if the vehicle was maintained properly/well or not, but I suppose at a point blank value, would it be worth near $3k to buy the car? Just sucks cause I'm having a hard time trying to find the 7.5gen V6 Accords in manual transmission, due to just wanting the sedan alone.
@txaccord
@txaccord 3 года назад
The sedans are more rare than the coupes. Timing belts are an expensive maintenance item on these engines. If there's proof the belt was done recently, it would make me feel a lot better. The clutch is another expensive repair. Those are the things I would want to make sure are good on it. Otherwise the cost of repairs would be worth more than the car.

The only time I noticed a whine under acceleration was when one of the belt tensioner pulleys was making noise. If you're hunting down a sound, take off the serpentine belt and run the engine to see if the noise is still there. If it goes away, it's due to an accessory like the alternator, PS pump, AC compressor, or belt tensioner pulleys. I'm not too hard on this car, but they seem to handle revs pretty well.
