Your process is exactly like mine, easiest place to test. Get to the end result as fast as possible, we're fast because we pay for the info and tools, because we put in the hours to learn how things work and because the more we practice, the luckier we get 👍 great video Keith 👍
I’d love to have the opportunity to be a fly on the wall on the cars you diagnose. Lots to learn by watching you work. I work in avionics (airplane electronics) but I only get to work on new installations so the problems I run into and have to repair are pretty standard and repetitive. Automotive diagnostics on old cars brings in a challenge because there’s the unknown of who did what and what has happened to the vehicle over its life. Thanks for putting these videos out. It feeds my inner desire to learn.
Thanks for the explanations. (ha ha) Yes, Armor all will do that. And I agree, all rust starts in Avoca! When I was there last I could hear my truck rusting in place.
Oi! Wires, wires, everywhere. My head hurts....lol. You are a clever guy with a great deal of patients to be able to deal with all that. Thanks for the videos.
I see used to see high end FoMoCo products from '02-'04 only 6 years old with rot like that. Navigators & Expeditions - they always looked like they were parked in the ocean. Ford must've scored a great deal on steel out of the Mainland ... If I was the owner I'd have dumped that for something else years ago. Once all of that is fixed, it'll be a few months, and something else will bust - the trailing arms should be due to rot in half any day now. Great vid as always! 🍻
Thank you Keith. Good job. I'm guessing the person who gave the thumb down is also the one who started the controversy over the classic "baby it's cold outside" song.
Yay some entertainment for today really enjoy watching you work. At least I get to accomplish something today and learn. Unfortunately slow today for me
Water intrusion and body rust, see this over and over. Not with just one manufacturer, a never-ending problem with the industry. It all speaks of covert obsolescence.
covert lol, 100% obviously planned or are the engineers just that STUPID now (yes they are) driven by bean counters and shysters ( accountants and lawyers) same thing wrong with all the governments worldwide, but I'll just stop here.....
@@throttlebottle5906 Yup, you are right. I started out in the automotive engineering world back in 1970, worked with emissions compliance, was fun but didn't like the bean counters controlling everything. Shifted careers and went into medical electronics.
can you help me im in UK with a 2004 navigator my friend put 24v charger on it and now the clocks dont work or suspension. had computoer on it and theres no talking to each other at all. what d i have to change ive swopped relays around there all clicking so think there ok whats next engine starts ok runs good seats work, lights work nothing else thanks in advance phil
Check for moisture around the passenger door harness along the floor. Sometimes you can have water leaking from the sunroof which drips down or your air conditioner evaporator drain allows water to come back in under the carpet. Trace the red and white wire and make sure you have battery voltage. Moisture sometimes gets through the insulation on that wire and reduces the voltage.
Hi. I'm hoping you can answer my question. Seen you know about electrical. I have a 2003 Lincoln aviator. Yesterday the instrumental cluster turned off in t not working. And the radio and windows and cigar lighter. I checked all fuses and relays. They all good. Naw here the weird part. When i turn my head light i get pawer to the radio and windows and cigar lighter back but not the instrumental cluster. And when i turn off the car and take the key out the sterio and windows and cigar lighter stay on i have to unplug the battery or they stay on..well hope you have come across this problem before. I'm looking for some to help me.. thanks
Omg..... I have same vehicle...... with quite a few of same problems, how much did this cost the customer .?¿?. I'm already crying 😢😭 Pretty sure mine didn't get water in it. I've figured a few things out on my own, however so many things I was unsure where to start at., starting with computer n the fuses..., oh boy, I feel like I am gonna always be working on mine.... Lol.. Abraham is what I named her. Thanks for the insight on what to do first....!!!!!
Thanks for the great Videos Keith. I'm a Heavy Duty tech so they give me a peek into the passenger vehicle world of diagnostic and repair. Quick question for you..I'm guessing Ford's IDS software can be used through other communication devices besides their VCM II? We're starting to see quite a few Ford Transits and I'm wondering if we could run IDS through something like Noregon's DLA+ 2.0 since we already have a few of those. Again, thanks.
We are being told that it can be used on any vci shortly. Now here's my opinion . As someone who has played with many jbox units, there are some that just function better than others. The Cardaq or Bosch units will stand the test of time. Bosch makes the MDI2 for GM , the vcm2 for Ford, the Mazda vcm2, the Subaru tool, Nissan etc. If I am going to play ball in the field I want something that works best. The vcm2 is about as solid a jbox as Jve ever seen
Hi ! I’m having this same problem on a 2004 Lincoln Navigator.. I watched your video , and was wondering was the fuse box the problem? Need to know ASAP ! Please let me know thanks
Hello Keith I’m Marco and I would like your assistance. You see I have an 03 navigator with the locks not working and it doesn’t unlock either by the buttons and I hear the relays click in the vsm and my power probe shows 0.1 or 0.2 on the fuse so right now I’m stuck can you please light me the way?
Yee Ha ,as soon as I read the title I knew where you were going. About 3 years ago my customer had a no start on a "explodition" but my hatred of working on cars drives my aspirations to maintain that sniper badge, like you big dogs. frickin hate this crap. The expedition ran great with a little starting fluid. But iam about 1 misdiagnosis away from losing my sanity. That fuse box iam sure has been overlooked by many.
the moon roof is leaking down the front door post to the fuse box and makes things wacky, I'm in the process of removing the fuse box and going to spray it with contact cleaner. I pulled a couple of fuses and the contacts were black. It gets disgusting. Will post how it goes. I have several things that either don't work or are intermittent.
just took the fuse box out, guess what? after taking aprt the fuse box I found water in it. There is also water in the floor pan area where the panel comes out and along the whole channel. What a piece of crap. I am in the process of cleaning the fuse box and fuses.
Ok, so you lost me. The CJB is feeding only 4v out to the VSM, which is causing the modules that share the UBP to malfunction. And you suspect that the CJB is the culprit, due to water intrusion, and evidence that other components have also recently been replaced? Did you check directly at the CJB, for reduced output voltage? Or just the feed wire from there to the module, at the module? Could a problem exist between those two points? I can't see from the vid, maybe a pinched wire from the other repairs/replacements?
New Level Auto ok! Yes!! I saw that one, and watched them out of order. And I wasn't sure what it was in response to. So, yes it answered some questions, after I went back and watched it again, IT NOW MAKES PERFECT SENSE!! ;-) THANKS!!
Go figure . I just had one missing on a BMW . Customers son had replaced the fuse for the power outlet using the one that was originally for the directional indicators in cluster 😑
Other words, new york mechanics are useless. You dont need a central junction box. Its either a hot eire or ground barely hanging on. This guys a lazy scammer.
I'm assuming that you did not watch the whole video by your comment. A decision made by the customer (the shop in this case) is what ended the diagnosis right where I left off. It was purchased for what would be "cheap". The had already spent more in other repairs then expected and limited me to a price they were willing to pay. The last thing not shown in video, and not due to laziness but time constraints, was showing that the rear folding seat module did not function until power was applied OUT from CJB manually. The shop customer declined any further repairs on that visit, but did eventually replace the cjb and the problems were resolved. I was called in to diagnose an additional problem a few weeks later with power to the passenger window BTW, which was due to an improperly seated plug after the shop replacing that CJB. Anyhow hope you found something in the free video I took a moment to make
