One of the best hopper videos I've seen! I like how you can see the claw reach out as well! I now see why a lot of haulers made the switch from Curbtender to Scorpion. You really can't dump when the blade is packing and I never realized that the void space was behind it.

zp12684 thank you! Yeah there’s many reasons why I see a lot of people switch from curbtender to scorpion now. Scorpions would be a huge improvement over these curbtenders. Either way it’s still a very comfortable ride and a reliable truck for sure

Perfect camera angle. People are pretty good with their sorting. What city is this? You are a good worker, getting out to clean your messes, and picking up the totes when they fall over. Great video!

You don't have like a shovel or broom to help clean up?

Awesome video! Great to see some video of you on route. How do you like these Curbtenders from a driver's perspective? Haha those stops with the wet greens like at 2:12 must be a pain, sucks when that happens. Good amount of tree branches out in the greens like at 8:02, that's fun to watch get packed away. Happen to remember how many stops you can do in a load with this truck? Always like finding out how much a driver can cram into their truck. Thanks for sharing and hope to see more of you in action!

WMmaster626 thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video. My perspective on curbtenders definitely depends on what material I’m collecting. Yard waste comes out in that standard brick you know, and how curbtender setup their hopper makes it so you really only fill and use half the hopper therefore only half the body is truly full. Hopefully you can see that in the video. Garbage however would be just fine since it’ll spread out over the length of the hopper and not just 1 spot so it’s much better. Because of the material and how full the carts were, I was only getting anywhere from 193-220 carts on a truck. Usually for yard waste you aim for about 300, but due to the material and the amount of it at each house it just wasn’t possible. To put that into perspective, you usually aim for about 500-550 carts per truck with garbage. Yard waste is a tricky material to figure out for sure

If they would've had dual chris crossing cylinders instead of that one creating a divider in the middle it might spread as the packer goes out but the stupid tail in the middle of the hopper keeps that from happening and keeps pulling the load back out when it retracts. No packer body is perfect though. Python has no crusher panel-hopper cover, McNeilus has too many sensors, Rapid Rail and Cool Hand are both totally retarded. Labrie joystick makes your hand and wrist tired.

I think that’s pretty cool. :} because it’s taped on the top of the truck. and you get to see the trash dumped. 🗑🙂👏👍👋🥰

Loved the few spills in the beginning of the video lol I know how annoying it is cleaning that stuff up... had times where my brain fails me and I think I'm doing bottles - quick up and too quick down :P Thing I hate about greens is the blocks of material that come out like 7:44, clearly no dramas for you here with a blade packer and that extra stroke length into the body, can suck with paddles and pendulums over here. More so not a fan of the big stick blocks, the heavy material which falls out as a brick and tumbles into the hopper loosely is all sweet - easy to tell the bin is empty! With the packing, I assume the normal single auto cycle sends the pack to the edge of the hopper and then retract, so those longer extensions were manual overrides? Or does the truck do a bit of everything as it likes? :D Cool to see one of these feeding greens, enjoyed watching the follower fold up during retract, plus getting to see the pack cylinder doing it's thing behind the scenes.

AussieGarbo haha glad you liked the video. Those couple of spills (especially the first one) were my bad. The blocks of yard waste as well as branches are super irritating because, if you can tell, the packer geometry with that giant metal block make it so that you only work with about half the hopper and as a result only pack about half of the body instead of a full load. You’ll be able to see that more in future videos than this video since in this I started the video with an empty truck so as it gets a load on its even more prominent where the greens land. I can imagine that a paddle packer would suck. And as for the pack cycles, yes the standard pack cycle just goes to the edge of the body and then returns so any time it goes father into the body that’s me manually running the packer into the body. Due to how curbtenders were designed you really have no choice but to manually pack in order to keep your hopper clear enough to run the route fast enough and not just get packing at every house. Glad you enjoyed watching the full motions of the packer

I don't know what they call it specifically but J. J. Richardson in our town has a packer that swings left and right in a reverse cycle around a half circle that handled large amounts of date palm, coconut palm, and traveler's palm fronds. That machine was just amazing at how easily it pushed back even large amounts of the stuff. We had an enormous date palm tree in our yard and it took a lot of time just to cut up the palm fronds so they would fit into a standard 240 litre wheelie bin. I'm in Australia so don't know if your area has any trees that size. I have seen various types of packer pack and handle these palm fronds with little to no effort as general waste, since we didn't have a green waste collection system in a town as small as ours at the time.

@@DarkVoidIII The JJR trucks use paddle packers - been the most common packer type for our side loaders in Oz for many years. They are pretty efficient and can put away a lot of rubbish, but if the truck is getting full and you have a big blob of material that is extra heavy and dense, it can potentially stop the paddle in its tracks. I used to collect garden vegetation in Hornsby Council (Sydney) and that was one place you saw a lot of bulky tree trimmings and other heavy green material... it wasn't a JJR truck specifically, but it had a paddle packer and pushed almost everything through.

Most of this material is byproducts of plans like leaves grass clippings and pruning’s also everything here will be composted into soil which will help plants grow

Whatever dude, I was a thrower for 18 years and I could never load a truck as fast as I can with an arm...and the trucks arm takes a year or two to get tired and a human arm takes less than a day.
