Gen 1 Boxster is looking better and better over time!

I didn't like the look when they were newer. But now ... they seem to age really well. When you see one on the streets it's a really nice, small car that already looks like fun.

As the owner of a 2004 986S, I have to say that I think these are among the most underrated cars available. An absolute joy to drive, and stylistically aging well. And even in Colorado foothills mine is a 4 season vehicle. Porches are built to be DRIVEN.

An S2000 couldn't even sound this good in it's dreams!

Sounds fantastic! Porsche NA flat 6 engines sound sooooo much better than V6 engines. Love this car.

Here's the absolute fact! You buy a Boxster for the bargain, the performance and it's 90% a 911. From parts to engine, to plastics down to the ignition switch. I love transaxles, have three beautiful clean no bs examples for almost 8 yrs. Own a 911 and a Boxster. I can afford any 911 but I love driving, looking and working on 944, 924,and 924S's. Friends with their 997C2S, GT3RS,, 911 Turbos and 991 cars are like sell all that and get a newer 911. Why? To brag? This is what I do, like and love! The Boxster is my most modern Porsche and I can go as fast as I need to, and handles better than my 82 911SC coupe. You buy a Boxster not because you can't afford a 911? I have a nice one at that, modified and all. You buy a Boxster because you like the way it feels, it drives, just point and the car goes there. Wanna put the top down you can, like the sort of chopped top look with the top up on a 986? Leave it up! Cayman owners think they are above you? NOOOOO, they are driving a Boxster Coupe with better looking headlights. It's called marketing boys, and profits based on variety! Buy a Boxster and enjoy it for what it is and enjoy. You don't need a 911 so your friends and strangers can quit teasing you! You are the same person with or without the car. Screw the nay sayers! There is a reason why Porsche under engineered the Boxster even though it is 90% a 911. Being a better handling car, and with more power better brakes better stopping better everything? Well, for Porsche? That is a no no! they still want to keep the 911 on a pedestal. all the engineers at Portia know which car has the potential to be the best Porsche sports car ever built. And that is the mid-engine layout!

What a lovely car. Not over done - usable and fun power. A friend of mine has a John Works mini cooper and a Jaguar xkr convertible from 2014. I actually like the cooper better. You can actually use the power. In the Jag it's over if you use the power for more than 2 or 3 seconds. The 510 hp are not really usable in the real world. Great in a game but not in real life. Also: I appreciated the "sweet jumps" thing :)

I owned a 2002s a couple years back. This car looks like a good one. You got very lucky. These can be an absolute disaster. I hope yours gives you that couple of years with no pain. Because when they say that there's no such thing as a cheap Porsche, they couldn't be more right.

"Slides effortlessly into gears" may be a German car thing. I drive my buddy's 1997.5 VW Jetta and it slides effortlessly like that. Or maybe it's VW.... Since VW does own Porsche.

This car sounds proper, the Boxster doesnt need 500hp.

Sounds better than a stock GTS... I don't normally care much about after market exhausts, they are often trying too hard / add too much.

I almost bought one of these but chickened out cause of he IMS risk and got a Prius instead😂 perhaps later I'll have the cuyaks to try one out.....1999 to 2008 you need stay on top of oil changes and monitoring the oil filter for metal particles. Prices now range from $5500 to $7500 here in LA......thx for vid guys👍

are these cars reliable? you can get them for 4 to 5k in the uk but i dont want problems and money pit cars like this merc i once had, otherwise im going to stick to my JDM 100% reliability

I remember a lot of idiots were calling this car as "HairDresser Car" especially with the bullshit they here from the TV car show hosts!. A Mid Engine, naturally aspirated 6 Cylinders and around 2800 CC, RWD, stick shift Porsche raves upto 6-7 Thousand RPM eaasy and grab there like a Rottweiler, run the corners like a Anatolian Shepherd on run, growls like a Pİtbull defined as "Hairdresser Car"!!!! That car was one of a kind when tit came out and soon also (already have been) one of a kind unique car too. These cars can be way way faster than they are and also great retro classics needs some renovations and upgrades.
