This was a brutal hell of a knock by Symonds against such quality attack bowling. This has lifted Aussies so much after the Shane Warne incident. This match is always remembered in my memories as Symonds signature. McGrath ended with a splendid catch.

But one difference is the match in 2003 WC was a day match in summer most probably where as the match in 2023 WC was a D/N encounter in winter and that did the trick 😢😢😢😢
@@venkateswarantv7893no chance , england are real daddy of t20 cricket and gonna win again. Aus are good in test and odi but mediocre in t20 even couldn’t qualify for knockouts in their backyard in 2022 . Plus eng have 2 t20 wc , aus have only one .

Never has a team been so dominant since the inception of cricket like this Australian team. No team were a match for them and despite being restricted to 212, we all knew Australia were the overwhelming favourites to win the match. Final was a 100% domination after this game.

They didn't choked tbh,aus where clear favourites during those times until 2007 aus where clear favourites to win any big icc events. The only exception was 2011 wc where I would agree they choked against India in finals. Later they took they revenge in 2014 wc against India.

This semi final is very similar to 2002 champions trophy semi final australia batting first and posting a low score, but difference here is that srilanka loosing too many wickets in the powerplay and eventually loosing the game whereas in 2002 CT semi final sri lanka played cautiously and went on to win the match
Srilanka had great chance to beat Australia in that SF after Aussies restrict to mere 213.... But sloppy batting from the Lankan blew away the opportunity 😊
Srilanka was favourite at half time even if rain would have stopped SL might have won this match. SL was a strong team Australia major fear was from SL team.
Australia looked nervous in the first half because Sri Lanka had beaten them a year ago in Champions Trophy SF. Aussies feared Lankans more than Indians.
The Lankan team was so full of legends. I remember this whole worldcup when i was 9 years old. As a pakistani I so wanted Sri Lanka to win because after Pakistan they were my favorite team I used to Shadow practice sri lanka batsmen . I miss the old days
In his last inning against india in cb series 2008 best of the three finals umpire gave him not out but he ran away from from the crease without seeing umpire that was his greatness.. if that day he stayed on the crease india would definitely loose that match

Sangakkara s stump mistake of Andy Symonds and His run out of Aravinda caused the defeat to Australia! Without him Sri Lanka through to the final!!! Very unfortunate!!!!
