I had squealing belt noise. So annoying. Sent it for diagnostics and repair. They said the belt is worn out so they replace it with new ones. Two days later it started again ! This time I jumped right online, read some few tips, checked my belt and realized it’s loose. So I followed your video and tighten it up a bit and now I’m good 🙂! Thank you !!!
Best video on RU-vid on this subject, changed one for a customer today. I would like you to mention that the part when you align the pulley the screw is very difficult to locate but it’s inside the pulley. Thanks a lot made my day
Just did the belts on mine. Fun stuff 🫠 took me almost an hour to realize there is an adjuster on the compressor as well. And another hour to break the bolt loose because of the tiny space
I seriously need some help. I'm doing the exact same job on my 2006 picanto 1.1 with A/C and power steering. I've got a 870mm and 875mm and I got nowhere near enough slack to get this belt on. I love your videos kev and used your VFR DIY videos too. But why on earth didn't you show us the hardest part - putting on the damn belt 🤦🏻♂️... I'm struggling like mad here and can't see a way I'm gonna get either 870 or 875mm belt on! The 12mm bolt is completely out of the power steering pump. The adjuster screw on the A/C has been all the way in and out and makes zero difference! Somebody help me please ASAP
The biggest issue I got seems to be the power steering pump hits into the engine mount and can't go any further in to create more slack that I so desperately need!
can’t find a straight answer for it online and was just wondering what the two belt sizes actually are? 2005 1.1L with pas and AC. know this video is quite old but thought it was worth a shot asking
Hey kev. I tried to replace the alternator but i wouldn't come out from the engine bay. Tried from the top and by removing the tyres. Its like it's stuck in there. Do you have any solutions how?
My AC has seized, it drives as long as i keep it switched off, Am i putting strain on the engine by doing so or is the clutch for it not engaged?? thanks
It's hard to say without seeing the car. My advice would be to remove the belt and see if the AC pulley can be rotated by hand with the AC turned off. If it turns freely then you will be fine and won't run into any trouble! At least until the weather gets hotter anyway! :)
Hey Kev, after both belts are replaced on my 2007 Picanto G4HE, when I put the AC on and press the acceleration pedal at idle, it stays at 3k rpm for a while and then drops. Its responsive, theres only a few seconds "lag" before it drops. Before the belt change I wasnt having any issues like this. Could this be related with the tension of the belts? Cheers
A good rule of thumb is that you should be able to just about be able to twist the belt 90 degrees. This has been the standard I’ve run for the last 30 years and has done me well 👌🏻
@@KevsShed yeah I mean I don’t disagree it’s just in these cars I’ve had to tighten em over and over again, it seems to be this specific engine from what I hear
I'm working on exactly this right now but can't get enough slack for moving the power steering pump. That belt's fine but had to come off to replace the shredded alternator belt. You make it look so easy - is it just practiced brute force or is there some element I missed?
@@joewilliams597 Did you remove the bolt completely as I did or just loosened? It does take a little bit of brute force also to get the belt of the side of the pulley too though mind!
@@KevsShed I removed it completely, and also had to loosen the bolt at the swivel point. I couldn't find the adjustor for the AC compress that Menno Boom referred to below. I'll go back and try a bit harder.
I have a kia picanto 2004 and I replaced the clutch cable multiple times it keeps snapping or over a couple of weeks starts to squeak and gets harde to press I think it has something to do with the pedal itself anyone can help me ?
once drained it can be refilled via the dipstick tube using a fluid transfer pump, just check a manual for the correct amount of fluid. if it's low then you will find it'll pull away really sluggishly.
If your car has Aircon then it should be an 870 belt, the easiest way to check is to order one using your VIN or reg number to be certain as there are a few variations
