I just picked up a extremely good running high mileage 2000 Grand cherokee Laredo 4.0! I plan on putting new water pump ,belt, idler puller, tensioner pulley all at the same time ! Now I know how Thanks! .....Its runs so much better than my 93 Grand ever did !! LOL
Isn't there a torque spec for both the idler pulley bracket to head bolt and the tensioner bracket t40 star drive bolt to alternator mounting beacket? I am fairly certian the first is 35 ft. Lbs. But have not a good source for the t40 star drive bolt. Help.
@@teddiazjr.6223 Thanks, Ted. My wife, (It's her Jeep) would like to know your source. I, on the other hand, trust your answer. It seems about right. It is, after all, a t40 star drive and not a hex head bolt.
@@michaelripplinger2169 that was the torque listed from another video. I’ll send the link in a few. I would suggest loctite blue and a dab of antiseize. I believe it was upkeeping Jeep
I'm currently replacing my tensioner, which has part of the head eaten away on the edge. My belt keeps getting eaten and stripped on one specific part every single time; the belt is also wobbling and the tensioner is going up and down. Does it seem to be the cause for the belt? Everything else seems solid and I'm double-checking.
@@noah97589 I forgot about this comment; I did resolve the issue. It was the tensioner, the broken plastic on the wheel would snag the belt and eat it away; it'd also narrow, which caused the belt to wobble into nothing and fray there.. Both of those pulleys you mentioned had no issue at all. Thanks for the suggestion, though.
And, yes. Chirp, chirp, chirp, then... kaboom. One schreaded/toasted accessory belt melted into all the ribbed pulleys. The idler pulley should be considered a service able part, like the accessory belt, that is replaced at regular intervals rather than waiting for bearing failure to leave you stranded.
