Dude thank you so much! I was worried this was going to be a big pain in the butt. Had the tension pulley fly off while I was driving so replacing it was a very scary concept as I've never been a big car guy. All my work has been on motorcycles lol.
That tensioner system is so lame. I was able to take my idler and tensioner pulleys off from the top in 5 minutes cause my belt broke but now I see that won't be the case going back on : (. Thanks for all the helpful info you put in text on your video
Nice vid, straightforward explanation. One issue I had though was that the nut holding on the tensioner is completely locked up when I attempted it, and even after a torch and cold chisel, it's now impossible to remove. I'm to the point of just cutting the thing off, but can't find a replacement tensioner bolt anywhere. Any suggestions where to find one or at least what it's called, or am I stuck with having to machine a new one?
what to do if the belt tensioner nut keeps spinning on the bolt. a little bit thread left and its free but feels like it will give but been ratcheting for a bit don't won't to damage the threads . I'm replacing a crankshaft sensor on my wife's 03 sedona .so both seperantine belts need to be removed and the crankshaft pulley. the sensor sits behind the crankshaft pulley. this video is very helpfull.
I put a new serpentine belt on and it squeaked then it snapped, do you think its a bad tensioner or did tighten the pully too much when i put my new drive belt on? I cant move the sedona unless i tow it to the mechanic.
The Mech a nic do you know where i can find a adjusting bolt that holds that part on at ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2H53bPcMTJw.html (3:15-3:19) that bolt, mine broke and i am looking for a solution to take out the broken one that adjust the tension to the belt, what type of bolt m8 or m10 and length
@@themechanic6117 darn.. i know they make some in the united states, but i am from canada and they don't make them here, i'll drill out the remaining bolt that is inside the adjuster housing and try find exact fit bolt
@@themechanic6117 well i was almost done, i thought i sprayed the bolt so it would be easy but it was the other side power steering adjusting bolt, but things happen.. thank for the video i ordered more parts i will just change since i'm in that area..
Nice video, like the detailed explanation. I got the same car, ‘04 Kia Sedona. At first start when the engine still cold you can hear a loud squeaking sound and as the engine warmed up the sound start subsiding. Do you think this comes from the belt or pulley or both? Thank you.
It's hard to tell, you can try replacing the belt first and see if it fixes the problem. While the belt is off you might as well inspect for worn out pullies
+awitha leona not sure of the part number. The pulley is sold at your local parts store . The adjustment bolt you might have to go to a junk yard or find a similar bolt at home depot
@@themechanic6117 I was just changing alternator and to do so I had to loosen the belt tensioner right. So what I did was I loosened the bolt too much that it came off and when I wanted to put it back on it was hard. Spent hours trying to get it in. And when I thought I got some thread in it started getting hard to turn .
