Have done a quick video showing the replacement of the drive belt, tensioner pulley and idler pulley on a 2012 Toyota Kluger/highlander.
My first time doing a video like this so feedback is welcome :) I’m not a mechanic either but just like having a go by doing things myself.
Hopefully it helps some others out by having a go yourself.

If this was your first time doing a videe like this, we have all been missing out! Awesome video: very well shot, clearly explained and illustrated. NO BS music or wasted time. Excellent! Thank you Luke

Thank you! Your video saved me so much time searching foe the parts, swapping both pullies and a new belt killed the squeaking

Great video. Have done this exactly the same a number of times on numerous highlanders from 2008 to 2011. To the point where it takes 10 minutes now and don't even need to jack the car or take wheel off.

Do you know if this will work on a 2015 Toyota Highlander with the 3.5

Do you think that would apply to a 2006 Toyota Estima? It's looks pretty crowded there.

Excellent work. This is the best video I can find showing every detail to carry out the work. One quick question, how did you identify the noisy bearing? There are several bearings at this position, AC, WP et. al. My car is also very noisy at this position, a metal clicking noise. Any ideas to identify the noisy one? And is it the same procedure to replace the AC bearing? Thanks
@luketaylor5502
@luketaylor5502 6 месяцев назад
I sprayed a bit of WD40 on the bearings one at a time to see if it stopped the noise. Don’t spray it on the belt though. And to confirm which one was faulty I removed the belt and spun the pulleys by hand to find the noise. With the engine off of course. The AC bearing would be abit more work as I believe you may have to remove the ac compressor and press the pulley and bearing out.

my 2014 3.5l 2gr-fe sounds like a diesel and thought I had direct injection but I dont it is port injection but it runs great very smooth. It has 80k miles now but sounded noisy something like this when I bought it w/67k. I will definitely do this at 100k belt change just for insurance. Awesome vid!

I have a question, Toyota/lexus doesn't sell the tensioner bearing. It sells the whole tensioner with the spring and bearing already compressed. Why didn't you consider changing the assembly instead of just the bearing? Is it much harder? Thanks
@luketaylor5502
@luketaylor5502 6 месяцев назад
Hi, I didn’t change the tensioner I only changed the idler pulleys as they were the ones that were noisy

Is the tensioner pulley and idler pulley same fit even though different part numbers

@@luketaylor5502 I just changed my drive belt (gates) now its wobbling side to side on tensioner, do you think its the belt itself or tensioner pulley, I did not change the tensioner pulley when changing belt Here's video ru-vid.comKnSrX39ZboA?feature=share
@sd906238
@sd906238 Год назад
The tensioner has 2 6203-2RS bearings pressed into it. The idler pully has 1 6302RMX bearing pressed into it. If you switched them then one would be to close to the engine and the other pulley would be to far away from the engine. The serpentine belt would not fit correctly on the 2 pulleys.

Be careful with the technique of hooking up two wrenches to rotate the tensioner pulley. They can snap lose and cause injury and/or very expen$$$ive damage to the tensioner… better to use the correct tool. In the U.S. O’Reilly Auto Parts will rent you the tool for free.

If you’re replacing the belt, why not just cut the old belt and pull it off? Spent a lot of time trying to get that old belt off.

Your fkn stupid So cut and place belt back on as well??? 😂
@neilreid9005
@neilreid9005 14 часов назад
@eoe6270 you can but you want to relieve the tensioner pressure first. It'll be a bit exciting if you cut the belt without doing that.
