Few hundred yards after a restart Tony Stewart bumped Kasey Kahne to the wall taking him out of the race along with Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Jeff Burton, Dave Blaney, Scott Riggs, and John Andretti. That was just the beginning. Kasey Kahne pit crew charged into Tony Stewart pits confronting them about the accident. Both pit crews end up fighting and scuffling with each other.

As soon as Kasey's crew saw the replay and knew for sure Tony dumped him, they unleashed their frustrations, LOL.

Like Harvick, Dale Jr did win a couple of Nationwide Championships,(Harvick got his 2nd Nationwide championship in 2006) however, Dale's were in back to back years. But far as the Sprint Cup Series goes, no neither 1 of those 3 drivers has yet to win a Sprint Cup Championship.

You're right, but the closing gap from a fresh tire car and an old tire car was incredibly difference. Not saying Tony had no control of the incident. Tony could've easily checked up, and then passed Kasey outside in 1 and 2.

BS on the "Kasey couldn't dive it into the corner as hard as Tony" excuse. They weren't even close to the entrance to turn 1 and Tony just flat ran Kasey over.

I don't really understand what they are talking about. They weren't even close to the point where they had to lift. Stewart just plain ran into Kahne. They were a few hundred yards from having to get out of the gas for the turn. Especially on a restart since they aren't even up to speed.

Go figure that Kahne gets wrecked while he is leading and could possibly win a race. That's what happened a lot to him in 2004. He would've had an awesome season if a lot of these kinds of races didn't happen to him.

I'll admit that Tony Stewart has a heck of a lot of talent. But not back then. In 2003-2005 Stewart was a huge duchebag. He wrecked everyone and pissed off almost everyone. I cried after this (Being a Kahne fan, what else do you do when his first win get's taken away by a duche?) and basically hated Stewart from then on.

Tommy Baldwin had a right to be mad. Wally, Tony flat wrecked. It wasn't like this was the last 10 laps of the race. Tony dumped him. It didn't look like he slowed down till after he hit Kasey. Doesn't matter why Kasey slowed down. Tony has a brake pedal. And this was the second debatable accident he caused this year. (Aaron's 499 big one being the other).
@Gforcebond
@Gforcebond 14 лет назад
my bro was car boss for that race jim pohlman. We were all pissed. Stewart didn't do it on purpose, but it was 100 percent his fault. Stewart has a dominating car that day and the only driver that could possibly win was kasey kahne that day. And for anybody that's saying they are good buddies tony and kanhne at the time this happened they did not like each other. THey had an incident at darlington earlier that year and kasey didn't think much of stewart after that.

That's why IndyCar isn't popular. You can't even block without a penalty. You think people don't love to watch their favorite drivers/teams care this much? I have a hard time seeing people agreeing with you here. People love to see drama/action.

You block in Indycar, you risk wheel-to-wheel contact and a car getting airborne. Of course they’ll penalize you. It’s a safety issue.

Wally... Ugh. They weren't near the corner yet, and on a restart or the initial start, you don't lift until the middle of the corner. Tony just flat wrecked Kahne, Kasey didn't lift in the middle of the straightaway.

A little more of give and a little less of take would had stopped that from happening. Personally, this incident made me respect Tommy Baldwin so much. Maybe things went a wee bit too far, but It is nice to have a crew chief who will fight for his driver. Heck, I would be mad too if my $150,000 racecar gets destroyed like that. I only hope for success for Tommy Baldwin Racing in the future.

Thats what happens when you gamble for 2 tires and track position. The faster car with 4 tires can drive it deeper into the corner. Khane was loose before Tony got to him. You can see his car wiggle before he gets turned. Baldwin was fighting for his job with now defunct Ray Evernham Racing. It looks like he picked the wrong team to mix it up with. Thats him in the bottom of the pile. LOL.
@viktoraensland
@viktoraensland 11 лет назад
For those of you computer chair race car drivers out there still fighting over this in 2013, here's what ACTUALLY happened: Stewart was right on Kahne JUST as Kasey was shifting from third to fourth gear. When he did, the car both unsettled and slowed slightly. This caused Kahne to stay off the throttle just a few tenths of a second longer than normal with a shift in gears. Tony was too close and had already gotten to fourth gear and hit Kasey at the exact wrong moment. That's what caused it.

His car was str8 as an arrow b4 their was contact. Most people don't remember this but these two drivers didn't like each other at this point they had a beef with each other at Darlington earlier in the year. The fact is Stewart just plain spun him out. The only car that was going to beat the 20 car that day was the 9. Stewart saw that yellow sticker on his back bumper and didn't cut him a break.

How is that fact? Ratings in NASCAR are far and away what IndyCar is and that's a fact. People love to see drama, action, etc. When drivers have to worry about a penalty for BLOCKING... then it isn't even racing. Fighting is the part of the sport, you see it all over the country every Saturday night at your local short track. Why take it away? NASCAR would rather see fighting than using cars to "fight".

@nascarfanatic2425 I know one of them races should've been a win- that being the MBNA 400: a Salute to Heroes. Kasey Kahne would've had one hell of a coming out party if a lot of them DNF's were top-5's or even wins. Another race I think he could've won was the UAW-GM Quality 500. His car was STRONG that night. Then the sophmore slump killed his momentum, but then I believe he was the winningest driver in 2006, if I'm right.

Have at it boys! But Stewart didn't do anything wrong. He just got to the bumper of Kasey Kahne, and because Kahne doesn't have new tires, Kahne gets loose and goes into the outside wall. I would be mad if I was that situation, but it's not all Tony's fault.

Badger99 I don't know but it seems awfully close to me. You might be right, but I didn't see Kahne really lift at all because they were just getting out of the tri-oval and were beginning the stretch into Turn 1. Kahne would've had to lift at about the entry of Turn 1, so you're right.
