From the artist:
"The second of a pair of albums recorded in a tiny bedsit in north west London, shortly after relocating from NZ in April 2003. Yellow Horizon [ peterwright.bandcamp.com/album/yellow-horizon ] was the first off the blocks, but both were recorded together in the space of a month. Inspiration for the centrepiece of this album came from a postcard from home which was pinned to the wall - a 1994 painting by NZ landscape artist Grahame Sydney titled Evening At Ben Ohau. As well as stealing the title, this piece became central to the abstracted theme of complex emotional responses to culture shock and homesickness - the yearning for a more natural environment in which to exist while living under the crush of humanity in a dense urban landscape. In a small room with one window, surrounded by over 7 million people, with no job and a rapidly depleting savings account, this small reproduction of big sky country in the heart of Te Waipounamu has provoked a body of work that for near on 2 decades has largely been dedicated to the idea of escaping into the wilderness."
