@@kristoffer3000 I owned a 2003 back in the day, and I own a 2010 based on the gen 1 as my winter beater. They show their age but they are cheap as chips on gas and super cheap to fix. But the first gens definitely didn't age well I agree with that
The best thing about Roush has been they aren't overzealous with their designs and reworks. They've always made their vehicles look more like inhouse upgrades, than aftermarket debauchery. The price is very reasonable even for 2004 and the exclusivity.
I remember when the Focus hit the roads and it defiantly hit in New England. A lot of different ages drove it around. It was such a different car looks wise to anything out. One of the last cars with a hatch, coupe, seden & WAGON!
Love these old MW reviews, but how the hell did they manage to get a slower 0-60 in a turbo ZX3 than the naturally-aspirated SVT ZX3 they tested earlier in the season?
With a trap of only 93, tells me either gearing is completely off or its not making 220 hp.. A 170 hp svt traps about 91-92, add 50 hp to only get 1 mph? Doesn't make sense at all..
@@fatloserboi probably not making the power output rated due to timing pulled from heatsoak. common issue when not engineered for the right application.
The fart cans can't be any worse than the basically straight piped exhaust people seem compelled to run on Dodge Chargers and Challengers. You know. The ones that can be heard a mile away on the highway.
Man, how times have jaded us. These days, factory stock, fairly low level trucks make 400hp and run 13s in the 1/4, and top of the line trucks are making 700+hp. And 220 horsepower is less than most family sedans these days, a lot of them naturally aspirated. That said, I would LOVE to have that Focus. I still see a good bit of them on the road, twenty years later. Not on the scale that you see Corollas or Civics, but it's still a testament that they were pretty decent cars.
@@SportsMusicCars If the Roush F150 its a performance vehícle, why It has a 4 speed automatic instead of a 6 speed manual, seems like the big 3 loved to put 4 speed auto, into everything back in the day and I think 220hp for a turbo zetec, it's low considering the SVT focus being N/A it's faster, the Acura RSX type S does 0-100 in 6.2s while the DC5 Type R, like 5.6 the gearing means everything on 0-100 and 1/4 times.
I miss the days when companies offered a wide range of street-focused trucks. All you can get now is off road, off road extreme, and off road extreme high speed.
Ford still has the Roush 2wd super snake. Ram offers the TRX. They are still out there. The sports compacts tuner craze is all but gone now though. Companies gave up after crossovers came into the picture.
@@Lrules364 Yeah, while there aren't a lot of factory "street" trucks left, like Ram's rumble bee, SRT10, R/T, f150 lighting (non-EV), Silverado SS, or that TRD supercharged tundra, like you said, you can still get a regular cab f150 or RAM express or something and go to a performance division like Roush and build it into your own street truck. The real loss, IMO, is the disappearance of the affordable sport compact segment. There are only a few pricey options left. WRX, Civic Si, VW GTI. Hyundai is killing the Veloster N. No more Focus or Fiesta ST, no more Cobalt SS, no srt Neon or Dart, no Mazda Speed3, no Lancer EVO, etc. Auto companies are basically ensuring young enthusiasts no longer have any options for affordable fun cars. They want everyone to buy a $50k SUV.
Some looking from from (almost) 2023 may find these designs strange but remember these mods come from the year 2004 and it was the norm back than, these even can be considered sedated/mature mods of the period, just look at the cars in the movies The Fast And The Furious.
Damn even the focus had slow acceleration times, 220hp turbo powa! Yet it couldn't even do 0-60mph in under 7 seconds? It needed over 7 seconds? Is it faster then the svt focus that was made during the same time? Also, how much more faster is it compared to fords own focus zx3 with 136hp?
NFS Underground called. They wanted their Ford Focus back. "brrrrumdum dum, dumdum dararum...ooooOOooh 369 damn you fine, wish i could sing it to ya one time get low, get low get low"
I like the Mk 1 Focus RS better. Too bad the US didn't get the Mk 1 RS Focus. I never really cared for the Mk 3 RS. But hey, don't call me weird, I kinda like the "ricey" body styling of that Roush Focus.
@@Welcometofacsistube well yeah....there's no other manufacturer that does more aftermarket modifications and put it into production for consumers like Ford
Love both these vehicles. But wow these weak numbers, lol. Price on truck is great. Right now 47 to 52k for a v8 XL. Thats nuts. But 5.0 4x4 is good for mid 14s. How the hell that truck is 15s is beyond me. Same thing on focus. 15s thats crazy. My 220ish escort gt is eco boost beating LOW 14s. Sure its lighter. But 15s turbo 4 banger when neon srt existed.. . Yuck.
Lol "more power than previous lightning" then says "while slower than previous lightning " And WTF the roush focus isn't even a SVT to start with.... 5 speed performance....SVT is 6 speed standard SVT < Roush. Allllllllllll dayyyyyy. Been that way for decades now. Overpriced name. Good styling though.
