Painting the barrel of the wheels. Very unhappy with the final finish of the clear in this case. No matter how I sprayed it, it was determined to dry spray. I could not move fast enough to catch it before it flashed. Fail for Duplicolor wheel clear coat. But a win for the Duplicolor ceramic engine gloss black.
The defects I had show up as I removed the tape... Those turned out to be delamination of the OEM finish BELOW my work. It was nothing I did. If you look close in previous videos, you will see areas that match my problem spots. They had lifted & I sanded off and feathered the areas that showed up, but I had no clue what was brewing below those layers. Fortunately, nothing when to the metal, so a quick re-sand & feathering got things back in order for the red spoke trim layer. However, something in that lower OEM primer layer was bad & defective. It reacted to the red rustoleum lacquer layer I laid. I had wrinkles & some fisheye that showed up. This should not have happened as everything was prepped properly & triple checked, but it did. In the future, I will avoid ever using rustoleum paint. The duplicolor handled everything like a champ without any issues in similar areas. I have since read people have similar issues with Rustoleum, so it was not me or my prep.
