2004 Saturn VUE Project: Refinishing Redline Wheels: Part 7: Painting the Face 

Finally on to the final finish. I skipped filming the painting of the red trim in the spokes. The lighting was going to be very problematic & was not worth it. Plus there were issues with the red rustoleum laquer paint. It reacted very poorly to the layer of OEM factory primer that had been exposed when I peeled the paint in the Barrel video. I figured out later, the OEM primer layers had delaminated deep below the surface I was prepping. There was no way to see it or prepare for it. It was nothing I had sanded or touched originally. Had I not taped, it never would have been exposed, but who knows what issues it could have caused down the road. As for painting over these areas with the rustoleum, even with my sanding & prep it wrinkled in some areas & tried to fisheye. The duplicolor had zero issues however.
To say I was aggravated was an understatement. It would have definitely not made for a good video. :)
