On "My Car Story" we're in Scottsdale AZ on 1-4-21.
We're looking at a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire SRT6 Roadster Convertible in Aero Blue Paint. The car features the factory “SRT-6” 3.2 Liter 6 cylinder engine. Although the Chrysler Crossfire was produced from 2004-2008, the “SRT-6” was only produced two years from 2005 and 2006.
The car's Owner is Lee Ernst. Lee’s had this car since 2018. Lee is a ”Mopar Guy” and he thought this car is a good value, and likes the looks of this car.
ENJOY!

The original Crossfire showcar had a unique engine. The V6 was melded with another to create a 12 cylinder with the hood being almost twice as long. A real beauty in my book Lou.

Hi all. Thanks for the SRT Crossfire love. These are undervalued right now. So buy them while you can! Like a lot of cars we like, there will be a day when these hit the spotlight. There were not many made so the lack of familiarity with the public could be a reason its hiding in the shadows.

The Chrysler Crossfire was either a hate ‘em or a love ‘em kind of car. Most were 4 cylinders but the SRT’s were more desirable. The 4 cylinders were of course more affordable. The Crossfire was designed by Mercedes-Benz based on the Mercedes SLK roadster. I drove a few of the Crossfires and the seating positions always seemed to be a bit awkward. However, I did manage to acquire a 2012 SLK350 (a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6) and the seating positions were just the same. But it is so much fun to drive. Thanks Lou for great presentation!

For the last 3 years I've owned a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire Limited Roadster I purchased with 33K on the odometer. In that time I've tacked on another 7K miles. I have compiled the following production numbers for the *Roadster* (sorry, but I was just never interested in the coupe!). *These are the sales figures for The United States of America ONLY!!!* Note that the Crossfire was sold in 3 different trim levels: 1) *Base* - normally aspirated with a cloth interior and a black windshield surround (the easiest identifiers) 2) *Limited* - normally aspirated with a leather interior and a silver windshield surround & 7-spoke wheels (the easiest identifiers) 3) *SRT-6* - supercharged with a fixed-position "whale-tail" trunk spoiler & 15-spoke wheels (the easiest identifiers) Here are the USA roadster sales *separated by SRT-6 and Limited trim-level.* The Base trim-level cars only came in 2 colors, which I've simply listed separately beside their 'Limited' counterparts and included within the total cars sold. Crossfire SRT-6 Roadster (USA sales) 1043 Total sold (in USA) 361 Black 257 Silver Blue 228 Aero Blue 194 Graphite 2 Alabaster 1 Machine Gray Crossfire Limited Roadster (USA sales) 17970 Total sold (in USA) 3386 Black (plus 1938 Base) 3158 Inferno Red (plus 1107 Base) 2612 Aero Blue 2474 Silver Blue 2150 Alabaster 1808 Yellow 1346 Graphite 447 Machine Gray 327 Bright Silver 262 Oyster Gold

I had a 2004 Chrysler Crossfire coupe. Mine was graphite in color. These cars are so awesome so fast and just well made cars from abroad. I did not have the SRT version but hey mine still would move. I see this video and so reminds me of mine that I had. When you got a Crossfire new you also got a five piece Crossfire luggage pack too. I still have mine never used and still in the box.I do not have my Crossfire anymore but I did keep the luggage as it is still in it's original box and packing. These cars to me were so not understood they just did take off like they thought as that was Chrysler's flag ship car at that time. Plus the resale value on them is just horrible. Maybe it is better now I don't know but these cars are so great I loved everything about mine! Thanks for sharing Lou and the owner as well!

Your regular Crossfire still made good horsepower and fast. Supposedly only 215HP but underrated and if you drive one they are really quick! I drove a few 6 speeds and wow, Way faster than the 215HP btw you can't get a manual in the SRT so kudos to the regulars. They have a V6 with good torque.

The union of Daimler and Chrysler was generally not a happy one but in this case they cooked up a real treat together, and it looks like you and Lee have had a great time with it. I saw an interview with the former Chrysler exec who was in charge of marketing the Crossfire. He said the ECU's of the 2 cars use EXACTLY the same code and in actuality it is only detuned *"by the stroke of a pen"* because Mercedes-Benz didn't want a Chrysler to be perceived as just as good as a Mercedes. As *all the mechanical bits are 100% the same including the exhaust system* this rings true. This is supported by both the R170 & Crossfire club.
@AndrewGraham07
@AndrewGraham07 3 года назад
@@Matt_from_Florida Thanks for your comment, Matt, but not all mechanical parts on the Crossfire are shared with the SLK. The roadster’s front springs, for example, are from the W 210 E-Class and are a good bit stronger than those fitted to the SLK 32 AMG (which is fitted with a spring from the W 202 C-Class). Small point: the engine has 18 valves, not 16. Sorry to be such a pedant. Enjoy your day !
