Wow, where did you find this? So cool. Danny has been with Sting even longer than Trudie has. ; ) Pretty sweet.

Zenyatta came out in Oct '80 I think. I'd love to see him play some of those sweet fretless basses from the late 70's and early 80's. he played them with a pick; great tight Police sound

Had a tele caster bass . Thought it was to heavy and stuck into my body . I still like them though. The basic bass

I prefer the fretless Ibanez models he used in the early 80s (one of them was 8 strings). They had a powerful, punchy deep and round sound. I didn’t like when he switched to frets, because he had a really personal tone.

Sorry if You find the resolution of the video not to Your liking... The video is from 2005! Plus it's not available anymore on the original website it was taken from. I guess what's important about the video is the insight it gives concerning Sting's gear. Video quality is neglectable.

I thought Fender went to the split pickup version in 1957 for P basses?

Seymour Duncan wound a special double bobbin stacked pickup for Sting's bass... It can be configured as hum cancelling or in series as the later 58 precision pickup. I don't know how it is wired in Sting's bass but it is available as a custom order from Seymour. I ordered one and configured with a push pull volume knob. Best of both worlds.

gutbucket The first precision with split coil was in '58 when they designed the new precision which is very similar to the model we know today.
